1970 saw all the car manufacturers throw caution into the wind and "let er rip" as far as powerful muscle cars. But the Muscle Car was doomed. By 1970 though many young buyers could afford a Muscle Car, they couldn't afford the super high insurance premiums also. So some of the OEMs got creative. This car is an example. 442, R/T, Super Sport, Cobra Jet - were all red flags for high insurance premiums. In some cases, the monthly insurance payment exceeded the car payment. The 1970 Olds Cutlass SX got very little (if any) marketing attention. It was based on a different body design than the 442. But it had the same 455 engine as the base 442. Insurance companies had no idea what a Cutlass SX was - to them it was a Cutlass - not a Muscle Car, so it didn't get the high insurance premiums a 442 got. |

Not a Road Runner. It's a Satellite with a RR hood. Those wheels were not available as a factory option to the general public. They were part of the "Cop Car" model. Extra cooling for the brakes. |

Originally, the Hemi was to be the standard (and only) engine in the 1969 Charger 500. Alas - it was not meant to be. I believe (I may be wrong) that Dodge thought to Homo. the car, it had to include the engine that was to be raced. But Ford Homo'd the Boss 429 separate from the car they would race it with so Dodge made the 440 Magnum std with the Hemi optional. |

A tiny bit of confusion over at the eBay/BaT Forum. This is not a stripe option. It's what you got when you ordered the "rub strips" on a 1970 Cuda. They came in five different colors. https://i.postimg.cc/j5zyv4r6/0.jpg |
