Your original phosphate looks oh so NIIIICCCEEE!

They look awesome to me, mainly the springs need work.

I disassembled the head light buckets, took the springs out of the hinges, and dropped off parts for media blast and powdercoat.
Ryan W31 |
I need to clean the inside of the front fenders, oven cleaner?
Ryan W31 |
Nice :)
Dan |
I had a nice fellow replace the spring on my garage door last night. A door that opens will help!!!
I have an evening of shuffling parts planned, fenders, hood, trunk lid, wheels, etc, etc Ryan |
Raced around like a fool after work with my father in law, I now have my car in only 2 locations and Little is left at the Igloo.
I have no space! The costs are really busting my balls, when I estimate 500 bucks it costs 1000...... I know y’all have done this before but I am no longer a resto-virgin. I started calling interior shops, yet another one of my 50% estimates. A few people have given me great recommendations so I am headed in the right direction. Ryan W31 |
Front clip metal items are still awaiting powder coating.
I ordered tires from Rusty Small F70-14 Goodyear White stripe bias plys. I am very happy to support someone who contributes to our hobby/passion daily. I firmed up general pricing and timing with an interior shop. I own various interior pieces so mostly the interior shop will install of course there will be some materials. I received yet another exciting box-o-fun from Inline Tube... fan clutch, trunk weather strip, hood stops, master cylinder lid, rag Joint, some fastener kits, clips, etc. I picked up my rad, beautiful re-cored and ready. I have to verify one dimension tonight so I can order some more Fusick items... the felt “seals” at four corners of the rad, and a few other goodies. My driver is full of car parts, I couldn’t take even one passenger..... I better get out there and get organized! Ryan W31 |

Thanks Ryan W31 |
Ordered a set of T3 headlights, headed to Dan V for NOCC pick up.
Ordered Fusick plastic/rubber/felt “seals” for around the rad. Ordered Inline Tube inner fender splash guards..... do they come with staples? They don’t sell them.... where do I get them? Plus my powdercoating is done so I am racing over to get it before skateboard shopping with the lad :-) Ryan W31 PS: my “To Purchase” list is getting smaller, I need to introduce the “To Sell” list very shortly. |
----Pretty easy and quick to just make your own staples, Ryan…...Bill S

Fusick provides the staples with the flaps they sell. I asked for and got extras a few years ago when I needed them.

I spent all day getting organized, parts from all the nooks and crannies came out.
I have all like items together... for example all my fuel system parts are in one area..... this is amazing!!!! I put everything not going on the car away to store, or sell. This was a great day!! I even cleaned the garage and I can walk around the car...... I did a few laps just because I could. The next part I need to install isnthe heater core so my interior work can be completed and it was the last box I opened... but I found it. Ryan W31 |
----Ryan,,,Your tires have arrived!!!......Bill S

Thanks Bill!!! Ryan W31 |
I started prepping my back bumper, it looks a lot better but needs more shine time.
I painted my water pump. I media blasted and started painting my inside and outside heater boxes. Started looking at options for a blower motor.... they are practically hidden.... Ryan W31 |
Did more prep on the backside of the rear bumper, paint tonight.
Brought home a car load from NOCC :-) I will try to post a few pics later. I formatted my schedule into bite size chunks, one chunk per day... (and I am trying not to look at the number of chunks just today’s chunk :-) De-Stress Ryan W31 |
Re-restored my lower alternator bracket
Washed the main portion of the car.... what a difference!!! Vacuumed and blew out nooks and crannies. I had a silly idea to remove the kick panels till I found out what is involved. Nope. I picked up my wiring (American Auto Wire) every wire except the under dash harness, I will do that some other time. Nick Morocco is building a couple RamRods to sell... parts are not growing on trees! Kurt Burdick had one item we needed and Rick Pauley may have more goodies..... Tomorrow I hope to get my door panel to the interior shop so they can look at repair/replacements. Ryan W31 |
Call my cell Ryan and I will walk you through the kick panels. Really not bad at all if I understand what you are trying to do.

Do they need to come out for carpet install? Ryan W31 |
For piece of mind I would DEFINETELY pull the kick panels.....you do not want to be
driving your car with a good possibility of having mice feces in the kick panels.....plus there is certainly other debris inside the kick panels after 50 years. Pull them and give them a good cleaning. No, the carpet tucks behind the kick panel. Dan |
No not at all. I normally install all my carpet last so as to not damage it by laying and walking on it if installing everything after and it is not an issue if done correctly and with some handy tools.
|
Thanks Rick and Dan!!
I have some heavy hitters keeping a close eye on me :-) I was able to reach inside the passenger side with the front clip off and the heater box off but the drivers side is not accessible. I agree good plan to re-and-resto/clean-and-re. I will fit it in. I hope to get to the interior shop today to firm up plans for the first two weeks of September. Firmed up with the exhaust shop, the roller will go for exhaust OTW to the interior shop. Ryan W31 PS: simply cleaning the car was very motivating. |
Pull the kick panels Grasshopper. It’ll be one of those things that you’ll be glad you did. Likely a mess behind them and you will have learned another “how to” in GM restos. Remember what I said years ago.....do it nice, not twice.

I may do the passenger side now (as the heater box is out) and the drivers before I hook up the parking brake. Ryan W. |
I am trying to stay on schedule!!
I started fitting the shifter “hump”. I removed items so the car is ready for interior, seats, seatbelts, rear door panels, package shelf panel and insulation, panel behind the rear seat back, etc. Cleaned and cleaned. Started cleaning the trunk lid and removing some sound deadning that has come loose. Maybe picking up tires on Wednesday.... TBD. My next Inline Tube Order is ready. Pressing forward. Ryan W. |

I ordered a bunch of odds and ends my Inkine Tube Order keeps getting larger.
I media blasted most of the fasteners for the front clip. Moving forward. I have a work weekend Aug 23-24-25-26 planned to install the front clip. (I am preparing for the front clip and for the exhaust shop Aug 31st, and then to the interior shop Aug 31. I had a nice chat with Lynn Stager tonight, they are planning an action packed weekend in Chicago-Land. Hop on hop off buss tour, museums, MCACN, you name it. Ryan W31 I need to find a few more hours in the day for my hunny, our new plan is to excercise together at 9:00 PM which is good for many reasons and some time to chat. |
So I love mat clear !!!
Wow the original fasteners look awesome!! Every day I have a new baggie of fasteners and odds and aids and clips to prepare. I even prepared the headlight rings with an SOS pad in the kitchen sink... I had to do the dishes to get clearance to land that flight. They look great. I need the seals to put the heater core in the heater box... I am on the hunt!! I am restoring the small filler panels at the front of each fender and in the middle of the grilles. Ryan W31 |
