Had the opportunity to park beside Joe Oldham’s son, Scott, in the redux of his Dad’s legendary Long Island street racer. Cool car …! (pic by George)

Our mailman used to read all our car magazines before delivering them.

We'd get Hot Rod and Car Craft mags with the pages dog eared and classified ads circled, a couple days after everybody else had theirs.

(lol)

From Daytona to Woodward to Mulholland (w/a little Van Nuys Blvd. thrown in), that rascal's gotten around a bit hasn't it, Keith?!

btw, inserts and parked portraits were done in Franklin Canyon Park, where the opening of The Andy Griffith Show was shot ...

Dropping a little Pontiaction into the Shelby punch bowl ...

Action-packed event at the Pete - Loved Ford v. Ferrari, and who doesn't like a Shelby historian?! But kinda cool - and fortunate - to hear it from the guys who were there.

btw, alert viewers of the wide shot will notice the upcoming Cobra Jet book in the grasp of the be-backpacked feller. Highly recommend for those who dig the details!

Keith Seymore 01-28-2020 07:04 PM

Ha!

One of these things is not like the others...

The Pontiac does stand out but what about the Pacer.

Yes, and on the other side of Peter Brock is Ken Miles' son, Peter.

Another cool thing was a fantastic compilation of documentation and photography from the ’60’s LeMans era - Shelby/Holman-Moody/John Wyer - down to the pay-dockets for the various teams - even had a couple original steering wheels - one of which from RK’s LeMans-winning car - also had an ID plate from one of the LeMans GT-40’s ... a coupla Ryan Deaf pics (on the green slip of paper in the old portrait is Mr. Ford's handwritten note - "you better win") -

Mr. Wangers' birthday's comin' up on the 26th. No soiree this time, since his digs are on lockdown. But any pals who'd like to fire over a card would make him a happy feller, I bet! 94 on the odometer this time around!!

Had a cool birthday chat with Jim; he sounds great, big laugh fully-intact and he had a lotta cool car stuff on his mind.

I'd been made aware he was Covid-positive at the time, but the topic never came up and, as of Friday's negative test result, I'm told he's fourteen days clear of it. They're properly looking after that feller over there, and he's a pretty tough dude! Happy 94th!!

BJCHEV396 07-06-2020 08:16 AM

Wow 94! Keep on keeping on Mr.W.!

Pro Stock John 02-03-2021 12:19 AM

I've read this thread in its entirety twice over the years. I remember reading about this caqr when I was growing (I'm 53) and I always wondered if the car was still around. I bought a '64 back in '87 that I had during college, former race car might still be kickin' around Chicago.

Tenney 02-04-2021 06:17 AM

Pretty darn cool college car, Pro Stock John!

Pro Stock John 02-06-2021 09:15 PM

Yeah, lack of money force me to sell it two years later. I might get another one.

You own some history there, all GTO fans have read about those old tests.

Tenney 02-28-2021 06:52 PM

Another cool college car in this clip, Pro Stock John. Guessing Harley was rarely late for class ...?!
