By and Large the favorite year GTO.
This ‘65 is a Sport Coupe (post) that is rolling on 5 spoke aluminum wheels. No outside rear view mirror. Slightly raised in front. I’d bet it’s a 3x2’s 4 spd. meant to terrorize back in the day. Plus Black & Yellows. |

Stephen Pontiac 68 RAII GTO raced by bill Eckstrom
Pontiac performance division Bristol CT raced a 69 RAIV bird and a 70 RAV bird through 73 Article in Jan 72 Rodder and super stock magazine annoyed GM enough that they pulled some of their. Parts that were at Butch Elkins shop Diamond auto at the time and kicked them Out of the racing program Although let’s face it after 73 was there really any worth while racing anymore. . The car was marigold yellow not Mayfair maize as many think. Their signs were bright yellow and marigold matched the sign better. |

That would explain the steel front bumper, as endura was not available with special paint. Or - might have been ordered that way on purpose, as the steel bumper was (presumably) lighter than the endura system. K |

Cool photo. Possibly Palmetto Green with white pinstripe. No outside rear view mirror. Deluxe steering wheel. Manual shift with white ball. Red line tires. |
Pinstripe
Huh, just noticed that pinstripe.
Seems to be a black stripe on fender and a white stripe on quarter panel. Old photo playing tricks. The white stripe is a bit to wide for a factory application. Should be a black stripe on that color with the interior being dark. |

New 1965 Tempest Series in array of styles.
Sport coupes, Hardtop coupes, Convertibles, a couple of GTO’s, plus white wall and redlines. I’ll take that one rail car please. Derailments of 1967 Pontiacs. Big cars and Tempest Series including a GTO. Possibly two separate incidents? One with greenscape. Last one with snow. Proof the “wheel disc” were secured in the trunks. |
Those last five pix have to be like a stab in the heart for you Chris.

The "GTO" decals on the quarter panels blew off in the car wash. The car was painted black on the decklid and up around the rear window. Photoshop rendering here, for discussion purposes: |

My dad bought this '64 GTO in 1976 for $750 while we were living in Minot ND. Was originally a CA car as it had a 1972 CA inspection sticker on the windshield and no rust. When he bought it.. it had '72 Malibu wheel covers.. blackwall tires and a black top. Car was loaded with options... A/C.. power windows.. etc.. Pic was taken in 1978 while we were living in Kennewick WA. He sold it a couple months after pic was taken. It was sold to someone in the Seattle area.

Pre-GTO, but Pontiac assembly. This is the first pic I've seen showing steering wheel crating on the line.
