That's just beyond cool!!! A big Congrats to both of you. How awesome is that? It's one thing to have your car in a magazine, but the cover? Cripes..... that's just so freakin' cool guys. Hats off to both of you..... that car just 100%, unequivocally (I never use that word except in these circumstances).....NAILED IT!!....and I'm not a Chevy guy!!! :burnout:

Brown Copo

Assume cover shot with smoking tires, Grady. Well deserved after all the hours spent reinventing the brown turd as Mickey would say lol. U guys made us skip a heart beat ,returning us back 48 years when life was great and fun. Steve

Woj 11-14-2017 04:26 AM

Great article. Congrats to Grady and Mike.

Mike. Dave will join the Chevy side one day. Maybe after this weekend.

Dave, can't wait to see your car at the show. All good stuff. :)

Wow, Grady and Mike, can Skip and I obtain a autographed copy?
You two make quite a team and congratulations on a great job on one of the best of it's kind around.

scuncio 11-19-2017 02:44 AM

No joke...beautiful car, even nicer in person. And Grady is a pretty cool guy too.

big gear head 11-19-2017 03:28 AM

I got to see this car today and talk to Grady and Mike. The car and both guys are great. It was a pleasure meeting them.

m22mike 11-20-2017 08:53 PM

Yep, finally nice to meet some cool young guys  to carry on the interest.

Mike

ORIGLS6 11-21-2017 04:15 AM

I had both magazines with me, and NOW, ...... both covers are autographed by "The Cover Guy". (and Yes, he was embarrassed! )

I couldn't be happier for Grady AND Mike; two of the BEST guys in our hobby. Great to see you both again.

m22mike 11-21-2017 11:50 AM

Likewise Dennis, always look forward to seeing our longtime sYc friends.

Mike

Tracker1 11-21-2017 01:34 PM

Saw the car and met Grady - both are class acts!

browncopo 11-25-2017 10:31 PM

I was happy to get my magazines in the mail. What a great cover photo! I assume that was taken at the drag strip? Great story and photos. First time I've had any thing published ( old photos) Once again, Thanks to Grady and Mike for a wonderful job on the car. I'm off to get a magazine display frame at Michael's and possibly look into having a poster made of the complete article. Cliff P.S. I bought all the copies that Barnes and Noble had on the shelf!

BULLITT65 09-13-2018 07:35 PM

A great read. I had posted on the CRG yesterday when I saw the Hot Rod write up.
Mike: very thorough restoration, love all the step by step pics and description.

Grady: WTG finding all the day 2 components, and really having a great vision of the finished product with all the speed shop goodies a guy would have decked out a muscle car with. It can be a tough search to locate those items, especially in good condition, since many times they were abused.

Both of you had a lot of passion in the assembly/resto of the car, and it shows. Congrats to you guys.

I just ran across this thread again today. Just as enjoyable to read through as it was the first time. Awesome work Grady and Mike!!!!!

m22mike 02-11-2019 09:03 PM

It is a awesome car, saw it again last summer at a car show in the bright sun, WOW !

Flying Undertaker 02-12-2019 02:06 PM

Grady Burch's Day 2 COPO Camaro

Mike: That Burnished Brown color really needs to be seen in the sunlight to be totally appreciated. Gold and bronze color flakes in the paint really stand out then. At dusk or in the evening the color looks almost black. Great job, Mike! Don.

NorCam 02-12-2019 04:05 PM

I read the thread again just last week and come back to this car often. In fact, it gave me the inspiration to do my own Day II conversion because of just how well Grady's car had hit the mark. The car is stunning and the workmanship is first rate!

Thanks for the share of this build to both Grady & Mike. It definitely inspires others!

DW31S 02-12-2019 07:37 PM

Couldn’t agree more Graeme. Eventually, my ‘69 will have some similar race items.

ss427copo 02-15-2019 02:36 AM

Enjoyable thread....

.....but, I'm bias to Day 2 articles.

I enjoy going through this thread every so often.

Any info on tire sizes on this Nova, particularly the front ?

Mr. Chevy 03-01-2019 04:01 AM

Mike, The fronts are 6.70/15 inch Firestone Tires. You can get them through Coker. The rears, I am almost certain, are the reproduction M&H cheater slicks.

Rich

MonteMike79 03-01-2019 10:40 AM

Thank you very much, that is the look I am after. I just wasn't sure if they were 6.40 or 6.70s on the front. I appreciate your help.

RALLY 03-01-2019 07:36 PM

Beautiful Nova.

mockingbird812 03-01-2019 08:51 PM

IIRC Grady may have 14” M&H repros out back.

1969grb 03-01-2019 10:45 PM

The fronts are actually original Stahl 710x15 not Firestone repops! Last I checked you can not buy them from Coker! The slicks are as Sam said M&H 14's and are reproduction.

mockingbird812 03-01-2019 10:54 PM

See Grady, I was paying attention (for once). Grady is very knowledgeable on this tire and wheel stuff. Have learned a lot from this fine gentelman!!

P.S. never considered doing spacers for my 4.5” Cragar skinnies for my Chevelle and Grady said to do it and boy was he right!!!!!

Sorry Grady,

I stand corrected Mike. I have those Firestone fronts and M&H rears as a set up for my Nova and the front tires look very similar in height and pie crust sidewalls to the Stahls..

FWIW...

I would love to see pictures, whether you send them to me email or post them here. Thanks !

RichSchmidt 03-04-2019 05:14 PM

Gorgeous job. I love Day 2 stuff and you nailed it. I am a 2nd gen Camaro guy and never knew that 1st gens had gray primer on the underside that wasn't always covered by the b!ackout. I learn something new every day. I seem to remember that some cars( don't remember what year) would get gray primer from the belt line down to serve as material for the paint shop to sand out any blemishes. Is that true?

BTW,as much as I love your car,if it were mine it would have Ansen Sprints on it. :)

RichSchmidt 03-04-2019 05:28 PM

Browncopo. Awesome to hear and see the history of this car. I have been into 2nd gen Camaros all my life so I would be just as happy with an equally well restored 74 Z with day two mods, especially if it were a factory no spoiler car!!!
