There is a continuing debate over the term "radio delete" as these cars had NO radio as standard equipment. The first owner of my car (sold in Feb. '71 after it's racing days) wanted a radio, so an Am was installed along with an antenna. Yes, they drilled the hole in the fender WAY back in 1971.....funny thing about mine?!? the owner's name is written on the radio!
I can believe Ryan's car could have come without a radio, if it, too was intended to race.

Al and I had a great visit after work today! We transferred the ownership at the MTO, and I was able to keep the ownership document from Feb 2nd 1973, I was also able to pay tax on her:-) I purchased the used car package, which is like an Ontario ownership history.....it has Al's name on it.....exciting history eh!!! We talked about the radio, he doesn't remember anything specific about it other than it may have been a little bit of an issue....but on the original bill of sale from (Ayr) County Garage it shows W63 Radio $88.60, and (no RPO code) Rear antenna $10.90 The antenna is on the right passenger front fender? Al said they may have given him a case of beer for whatever mistake was made, but he just wanted his fast car as soon as possible. another discrepancy i need to iron our is the rear end gears, Al says they are 3.91:1 and the BOS says G80 3.91:1 ratio, positration, $49.10 the GM VVS docs say G80 positration, and G92 3.42 ratio heavy duty...........TBD Al and I then went to Tim Hortons and had a great chat, for about an hour......the car was not even mentioned once:-) Kids, grandkids, work, family, you name it. Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Yikes, better steer back onto the road:-)
I just had a (Duh) thought, my Protectoplate (That I have yet to decode) should indicate rear gear ratio, before I brave the cold to check drive shaft rotations vs wheel rotations:-) Ryan |

I hope the Protectoplate data is similar to Chevelle as everything is spelled out clearly on these examples:-) Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Ryan, in your earlier post, did you mean to say the paperwork you received from George Z. says the car has 3.42 gears and the original owner says it has 3.91 gears?

Yup! And the BOS says 3.91 gears....TBD....I think 3.42 gears:-) Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Ryan
I believe 3.91 gears were standard issue with the W31 package, although an extra cost item. GM Vintage Vehicle Services often uses later model years jargon and descriptions that are not completely accurate, some examples I have seen: sport steering wheel, they call it a wood wheel Bumper guards, they call ot bumper guard delete. Not even sure 3.42 could be ordered as a substitute for the 3.91. Paul |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Posi rear:-) as I turned one rear wheel the other rear tire turns the same direction
Ratio? One revolution of a rear tire equals 3.4 turns of the driveshaft, unless I am doing it wrong looks like a 3.42:1 posi to me? Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
You are probably right on both attempts but the best way to find out is to pull the cover.

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Good point Kurt.
That was I can get the numbers and dates off the components. Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
There are no point deductions for replacing the gear oil at the "Barn Finds"......no one will know - well besides us
*Warning - remove diff plug first, before you drop the cover. If we got to see sooooo many pics of the spare tire.... imagine how many pics we will get to see of the ring and pinion Have fun, Dan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I will kill y'all with pictures:-)
I love those spare tire pictures, those tires are almost as old as you Dan, and in much better shape....No "spare tire" on my spare tire:-) PS: Why pull the plug? Will that allow the oil to flow easier before the huge glopp? Ryan |

A little tiny bit of info on the dealer that sold my car new:-)
http://www.guelphmercury.com/living-stor...empted-anglers/ Ryan As Miller recalls, one of the shop’s regular clients was the County Garage, a GM dealership (it also sold Frigidaire appliances and Rogers Majestic television sets) owned by Carl E. Buck and situated a few doors to the north on Northumberland Street. More recently, the body shop building was the site of Rambell’s Waterside Dining, a popular restaurant. |

Let's see now...26 pages. Well, I guess a few people may want to see this one at MCACN!
And the best part is, Ryan is doing this not only with his Dad, but his Son too. And rumor has it, Mrs. Weaver may be joining us at MCACN this year also. (I bet there may be someone in the office that would like to meet her.) Keep it coming! Bashton MCACN Managing Member |

Hate to say...El Malo is kind of in deep hibernation under the care of my 90 YO Mother-in-law. (in her garage) I'm dying to get my hands back on it but don't have the facility to do any work on it. |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Hi Bob.
El Malo rests well, she is used to it:-) I don't think anyone is ever going to call my garage a "facility" but it is mine:-) Ryan Dan Vasic says the snow blower has to go:-) A few more trips to the dump and the SB can fit in the shed! |
