Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Does anyone have a set of Lakewood traction bars with the square tubing that they could measure for me? I need to make a set that hit the front spring eye so I don't keep bending my springs.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Oops, I meant to add there's a pair on eBay, but it sort of looks like one is slightly buckled just ahead of the mounting pad.

This guy used to be a big engine builder on the West coast back in the 60's and 70's. I remember a story in Car Craft or Hot Rod, in the 80's, about their red and black Anglia. I think it was a story on fast street cars.

I'd love to find a can of that BX-10 and the swifter shifter glove. Someone stole mine out of my car at college in FL.

Here is their Pro Stock Dodge Colt. After I finish the Vega and my Model A, I'm going to do a street version of this car.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Picked up these nice old M/T Super Stock Dragster Slicks 8.00/8.50-14 mounted to a pair of 4-3/4 bolt pattern Chevy steelies. Great shape with NO dry rot or cracking... awesome "Pie Crust" style!
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...nfwB5m60_3.jpg Going to match them up with this NOS set of Keystone Traction Slot mags on the front... http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g.../IMG_07911.jpg |

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...nfwB5m60_3.jpg

This goes down as one of the all time biggest Ebay flops. I bid $266 with 20 seconds left on the auction. I have confirmation emails of this bid along with noticing the automated ticker update instantly. Some how you still won the auction at $250 when I was clearly bidding more. I don't know what your final bid was so I do not want to insinuate I would have won the auction, but at the very least I would have been competitive. I'm not mad, and I'm thrilled someone from the forum won those tires, but I very perplexed as to why my bid did not go through! AWESOME tires and nice score! Dan |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Dan,
That has happened to me before..and many others. Sometimes depending on traffic there is a lag between the time you bid and it actually officially gets "recorded" electronically by Ebay even though it says your bid got logged in at 20 seconds to go. On the Ebay Community chat boards there are threads about these lag bids. can't remember the exact reason but in a nutshell, Ebay did not want the Wall Street closing bell affect..that is sometimes 10-15 minutes after the closing bell the market continues to go up or down due to the rush of people buying or selling at 3:59 and the system finally catching up to their orders. I make sure I click my final bid around the 40-45 second mark. |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
They had a buy it now on them for 300 early on but they were too early for the car i want to use them on.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Nice find on the wheels and tires.
Have any of you guys used Esnipe? I've never lost an auction since going to it, provided my max bid is high enough. |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Thanks for the explanation guys!

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
I had a $275 max bid... sorry Dan. If its any consolation, they are going on a worthy car.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
I was watching also to see what they'd sell for. The side wall design is very similiar to these but without the colors.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Yep, of all the old slicks I ever bought, these really are special. They were going on my '61 Belair street/strip car but the car is gone now so I think I'll mount them on a nice pair of M/T mags (of course) and market them.
