Re: Tone Blue
Really looking forward to seeing the car in person. Guess it's time for a new signature pic?

Re: Tone Blue
I can't change my Avatar just yet. She was with me for 15yrs. Learned a lot from that car.

Is that the car you had at the track about 10 years ago, Maple Grove, Friday night, I had my Yenko, met in the staging lanes? |
Re: Tone Blue
Marlin, that is the one. Sold it to one of the Rubright's.

Re: Tone Blue

Car looks great and I hope you get it out and enjoy it. |
Re: Tone Blue
Thanks Damien! It's been a few years that I have been working on it. Budget and time constraints, but it will be out this year. By all means, it's not perfect at all. In other words, it's not a MACAN car, but I've had tons of fun doing it. And I'm just a young guy.

Re: Tone Blue
I like your stuff and nice exhaust and Rev-Pol "WOW".

Jed, don't short change yourself! This is nice than some cars @ MCACN. The fact that you enjoyed the build, did it yourself and you drive it make this Nova something to be damn proud of... |

Re: Tone Blue
Thank you as always Bruce!

Re: Tone Blue
Took the Nova out for an "unofficial" first 5 mile ride today. I'm quite impressed with all of my math. Temp is good, oil pressure is good, sound is great, and she seems to get up and go! Plowman helped with an over the phone alignment last night. She's pretty close. I know the red lines give a bit, but it is better than what it was! Summer here we come!

Looks and sounds all gooder Jed. Any video of the voyage?

Dave 67 Nova Boy</div></div> Hmm? Haven't thought of that. I still need to break her in. I hear that my rear end isn't whining, so that's a good sign! With the right tools, a book and some guidance, anything can happen. I need to readjust the carb and timing. Had a bit of pinging. 89 Octane from Sheetz. Not sure if it's the junk gas or what? I think this Nova should do better than a 13.8 in the quarter mile? Taching about 2200 at 50mph and the oil pressure was at 45psi. Running around 185-190 °F. Any suggestions? Thanks pxtx! Re: Tone Blue
Hey Jed, you planned on running at the track all along? Where'd ya hide tge line loc? I'm sure we can scrounge some good rubber on Cragars for ya.

Re: Tone Blue
No line loc Paul. Didn't plan on a line loc.

Re: Tone Blue
Registered and insured as of today. I have to finish up a few things and get it inspected, then work out some bugs. Hopefully it's nothing I can't fix? I will never buy another glass hood, I can tell you that much!
Thank you everyone for all the Awsome comments. I truly do appreciate all the kind words and help. This has been a long time project that is almost to total completion. I respect everyone that has done this, or does it for a living! This hobby is not something that is done over night or in a 30 minute tv show. This is a labor of love and not for the light hearted. Time and money! She may not be perfect, but it's my first nut and bolt and I am very proud of what I have accomplished, especially from all the friends that I have made over the years on this site! I know that if anyone sees this car, out at shows or on the road, they will know that NovaJed is behind the wheel! Or someone stole it and in that case, CALL THE COPS! Don't be afraid to come say hello if you see me, well namely the car, but I shouldn't be too far away! Thanks again Yenko.net for all the info and support on this build! Time to enjoy it! The cars are 30% of it all, but the other 70% has become more about who is behind the wheel. |
Re: Tone Blue
PS, somehow I saved history and something from the crusher? Think about it.

Re: Tone Blue
Ok, so I have just about 200 miles on it thus far, and tore up a repro alt belt. 300 more miles to go before I readjust the valves and take it to Maple Grove! Well, maybe I need radials first? But I think this one will be faster than the last. Who has a helmet I can borrow?
|
Re: Tone Blue
Slicks on some Nova friendly whees and a helmet. You say when and where. This car is overdue for some action shots and a vid. Gonna run it at Atco in a few weeks too, right?
|
Re: Tone Blue
Ok, so I had a trans leak and narrowed it down to a bad yoke or seal. Turns out, the bushing wasn't in all the way. Not my doing and the needle and seat got stuck, which left me sit. Nothing $8 and 5/8 wrench and a screwdriver couldn't fix. Had it been 18 years ago, I would be flipping out.
Plowman helped with an "over the phone" alignment and we weren't 2 tenths of a degree out from the computer. Toe was out, but I knew that. Rev-Pol coil is mounted securely to the firewall too. Manually shifting the automatic proved to make the car run quicker and I broke the detent cable adjusting it. Live and learn I guess? A new one is on the way! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0512142131.jpg |
Re: Tone Blue
Looking forward to seeing this thing in action. This Sunday at ATCO, right?

Re: Tone Blue
No action. Just there, weather depending.
