If someone owns the car it's a find of a lifetime.

I think the guy who posted it here on the site definitely got some value for the seller, Kurt posted it could be Kevin S's COPO pretty early on.

I hope the engine matches to a car out there.

I can remember 15 years ago, someone on this site selling just the bare block for a COPO for $10k. And he had a couple of them for sale if I remember correctly.

So I personally don’t think $20k for the original motor to a COPO is out of the realm.

I've been speaking with Greg through Facebook about the motor and it looks like he has made contact with the current owner of the Camaro and hopefully the two will be re-united soon. Greg recognizes that they couldn't have done it without the help of this site, and he hopes his ban can be lifted so that he can make a donation and potentially share a few details.

I was correct - it's from Kevin's car.

Greg is no longer banned. Look forward to seeing a happy ending with engine reunited with car!

Thank you for that.

I won't be around much if at all once this deal is done but I still plan on donating as promised. As Mike said I really couldn't have done it without the help I received from connections made at this site, and even though a member is not involved in buying the engine he is still part of the broader COPO community and I'll be happy to contribute to your guys' site in appreciation for the conversation. Sorry that I went about it the wrong way. I'm sure my buddy will be happy with the deal and even though I asked for nothing in return I'll just submit an invoice for reimbursement and I'm sure he won't mind obliging

Kurt was correct in his early assumption and I applaud him for that. The name did not mean anything to me at the time and I just kept plugging along. Once I got the VIN and could dig further I was able to speak with Brad McAdam who confirmed that it was a car that Bruce Eilenberger had owned and sold to Kevin years ago. Another source I found had been collecting Berger VIN's for decades and also had Kevin as the owner. I spoke directly to Kevin and forwarded him the block VIN photo I had taken. I gave him my buddies info and said that was it for my part of this.

I will update again when something happens. Unfortunately I will not be able to reveal how much it will be sold for, because I will not know as it is none of my business. Thanks again for lifting the ban and putting up with my shenanigans. Never thought it would have turned out this engine was for such a well known car. It's like the best-case-scenario for my friend and I am happy for him. The world works in mysterious ways...

I’m glad it all worked out, the money involved is not important, what’s important is the block will be united with the car.

gregsthe1 05-07-2025 02:57 PM

Agreed.

He asked for my help to sell the engine and I said we can do better than that. Had a good feeling from the start that this could have a happy ending.

So great things worked out for everyone also Tim’s right on above w/ the $ not important.
Welcome aboard Greg also thanks for your part of another lost Copo engine finding its way home!
