Re: Anyone in Janesville, WI? Looking for my old car
Not many stories really to tell just yet. My car time has been spent largely with other cars and this one has been shuttled to the back corner of the barn while I collect parts for it. The interior was destroyed by the last owner's dogs, he had put another one in it (partially) from a different year along with some aftermarket parts. I've collected two correct 1987 interiors for it, first a black (charcoal) one only because I found that first and now have the correct grey custom cloth interior for it, that I just picked up this fall.
On the unfortunate side, the car really does need a full repaint - which I'm still on the fence on if I want to do or not. I would like the car to be able to tell it's stories, but it has so many of them to tell! Lots of dings & dents from garage & parking lot incidents over the last 30 years, but the rest of the paint is as it was when it left me 28 years ago. On a more serious note, my father, who got the very first ride in it, the night I picked it up, passed suddenly only days after I got it back and that loss has caused me to re-evaluate much of what I have and do in life. The blue house in the picture above is still owned by my sisters & I two years later and is filled with 50 years of memories and personal items/collections we need to sort through. That house is a continuous reminder of the burden that gets left behind and I am looking to lighten my load here. So the plan now is once the weather gets nice, sell a bunch of cars, get this one detailed as nicely as possible, get the interior in & enjoy it a bit. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_4009.jpg |

Sorry about your father. That grey interior looks really clean. Harder and harder to find these days.

Re: Anyone in Janesville, WI? Looking for my old car
Thanks. I was convinced I would have to buy a really nice car and steal the interior out of it, swap in the black one and resell it - and still might. This one should do well enough though for my plans at this point.

</div></div> Sorry about your father. If it is just dings and (minor) dents a good PDR (paintless dent removal) guy can work wonders without touching the paint. Might be a good place to start before a full repaint. |

Those are nice looking seats. I ended up having covers (NOS grade greys) made for me after I located some correct original 1987 Collins and Aikin yardage. You have a great looking IROC there! |
I just read the whole story. Congratulations on being able to locate your old car and eventually being able to get it back. Sorry to hear about your father though. Good luck with your car!
