Have you tried Easy-Off oven cleaner in an inconspicuous test spot. Be careful breathing the stuff! ~ Pete |

That can work well

Re: 69 Z Survivor Cortez Silver
I have seen that noted in the past but didn't think there was an oven cleaner made today that was as good as back in the day. I can remember as far back as 75 a friend using it to clean oil off in the engine compartment. Said it works great.
So what kind would you recommend then? I haven't looked at a can of that stuff in many years. I'll have to check out the oven cleaner instead of the chicks when I go to the grocery store now. |

Great poin on using oven cleaner to remove spray-bomb paint... I'm going to try that too.

Be careful oven cleaner can strip to bare metal.

Re: 69 Z Survivor Cortez Silver
Oven cleaner was an old model car builders' trick for removing paint from plastic. The oven cleaner would not attack the plastic but would soften amd remove the pant. There is no selective delamination on paint layers. It will attack all the paint at the same time.
When I used a pressure washer to remove the Ziebart rust preventative layer of oily goop from my trunk, that stuff came off pretty quickly but the factory trunk spatter paint was some really hard stuff to remove. |

On the black RS/Z I used enamel reducer on the innerfenders, rad support and hoses/wires etc, it left the original flowcoat black on all the parts.

Blow in Lacquer as long as there are not rust issues. After cleaning the paint very well multiple times I used Mother's show car glaze hand applied then a pure carnuba wax. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-d...iginal+033.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-1....03.11+014.jpg https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Q...450-no/002.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-v....14.10+401.jpg |
