Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

Started kind of figuring out what shifter I want in the car today.

Thought process:

Al already cut the shifter hump, and installed a Hurst Super Shifter:-)
I drove a friends W30 442 4 Speed with the original Hurst Shifter, fantastic car but long shift throws.
If I put a new hump in and the original shifter I am 100% sure I won't cut it out ever.
I need new carpet and feel I can cut for the Day 2 shifter close enough that if I repaired the floor and put the original shifter in I wouldn't need to re-replace the front carpet.
The shifter in the car costs over 300 U.S, or 390 of my dollars:-(
The Day 2 shifter has a straight up 7 inch handle, which is a little far away while sitting in the drivers seat making vroom vroom sounds:-)
The Day 2 shifter is mounted above the rear of the trans so the original handle would be way to long if used with it.
Al sent a T handle knob which I can use if the mood strikes:-)

What I want to do is find a shifter handle and boot that works and looks almost stock and keep the original goodies safe.

The parts I think I want from Hurst are:

5388009 10.5 inch handle (picture above) similar to the original, but the whole word Hurst is used instead of the H.

114 4580. Boot looks classic (picture below) but nothing like the original (picture above)

1361000. Hurst Equipped emblem (picture below) LIKE I would replace the sticky tape with a magnet for changing up the look someday.

Hard to beat the original white/black ball or Hurst T-Handle look but which is what of original parts you have and what Al added?
I still have an original Red-H Boot here I'd be happy lay on you for the project Ryan, boot is nice but some chrome patina as below.

That looks nice, the patina will match my car very well!

We can PM for an agreeable price off the stage:-)

The white ball is part of the Day 2 shifter set up, the black ball is original, and the "Doernor" T handle came in a box. (I will ask Al about it)
