I have such amazing help from so many people:-)
I appreciate every call, text, PM, message, post, discount Olds part, and helping hand!!!! Ryan |
Did a little Cutlass run around after work. I dropped off my “numbers” starter for assessment. (It didn’t turn over on the bench so some work is needed) I stopped at the resto shop and dropped off caged nuts (I finally found them staring me right on my work bench:-) They have masked off the windows and started to look at the tiny repair on the cowl first. I am crazy excited:-)

It`s the right thing to do in my eyes. Dan |
Prepared my trans cross member, and dropped off two tires and two rims to get mounted....
She will be a roller soon. So far my day is my own on Saturday, brakes and possibly bring the engine home.... Ryan |
RamblerDealer Terry came over today and we assembled the drum brakes.
4 hands was barely enough:-) Thanks so much for the help!!! This was a bit of a roadblock as they have been apart a while. Terry took my drums to take a skim off so they are fresh. Ryan |

Looking Nice :)
Don't forget to tighten the front sway bar end link.....you have about 3/4 of thread to tighten. Were your backing plates originally cast or gray....or you just decided to do it that way? Dan |

The backing plates, I used advice from a Chevelle expert and then confirmed with an Olds expert, and then confirmed with the Assembly manual:-) Ryan |

Great progress Ryan, keep rockin'! Hard to be sure from the pics but are all longest shoes to the rear @ each corner? :beers: ~ Pete . |

Yes, Dave Birdwell helped me over FB to get the right brake parts on the correct wheel:-) Ryan |
I bought a new in the box ACC black carpet set. This carpet is for automatic which I am led to believe is best for Cutlass as the 4 speed hump is small.
I also got up in the night to pee and ended up buying a 1969 442 4 Speed shifter complete with handle and ball. I must have been deprived of shifters as a child :-) (making up for lost time) Ryan |
Thought you were using the rubber floor covering..?.. and the 442 shifter should have the numerals in/on the stick; W-31s only have the “H”. Not knocking your shifter fetish....I think I’m up to about 6 myself (including Super Shifters and a Ram Rod).

Extra shifters make me happy :-) Agree Cutlass S has H, this one is 442, it may be for sale after rebuild... TBD. Ryan |

Chop Cut Rebuild W-31 Style :-)
My wait in the que is over, ProTouring Mustang Is done and now Cutlass!!! Happy to see the bad getting cut out, I couldn’t have done this without someone to work with to learn from. I had them modify the trunk support, the repop has a huge “hip” on one side now it matches the OEM piece. Ryan |
Keep pluggin’ Ryan. Looking GOOD!

Looking good, Ryan! Incidentally, which door are you working this year at MCACN? From my understanding, I've been assigned to the 2nd floor Janitorial Closet in building 2. Didn't know there was a Building 2 at MCACN? Well.. there is....and it contains the Janitor's closet!
Cheers:beers: Dave |

Bought a couple RamRod Shifters off Yenko.net..... who doesn’t want to say that?
Nick Morocco is going to take a look at what is there, what is missing, and build them up like new :-) Ryan |
NICE.....Morocco to the rescue :)
Dan |
Dig it!! Incidentally....with all the shifters and brake parts you bought..... did this year Cutlass have 17 wheels and 5 transmissions? :dunno: I have the utmost respect for Olds drivers..... that's a lot of coordinating work to get going and then stop!:3gears:...:hmmm:...:eek2::eek2::eek2:
Keep at it Ryan! Looking good man! Cheers Dave |
