The ship's remains are disappearing. There’s a rust-eating bacteria called Halomonas Titanicae that is slowly consuming the remains of the ship. It is expected to be completely gone by 2030. |

Captain Edward John Smith cancelled a lifeboat drill planned on the day of the sinking. Nobody knows why he called it off. |

The interior design was based on a London hotel. The Ritz in London's Piccadilly neighborhood loosely inspired the interior of the ship. The hotel opened in 1906 and is still operating today. |
