Darrell, thanks for always posting a positive note:-)
Ken, I am so excited to have someone with all your experience design and build a killer W31 engine "L74KILR" :-) Dan, you can see through me, I have plans to keep one drivetrain in my car and put the other drivetrain in a Grandma Sports Coupe someday. I can confidently say today is not that day:-) I would love it if my Father In law would buy a 6 cyl F85 or Cutlass and I can hit it with W-W-W :-) Ryan |
I try to bring a little humor to my posts even if Im the only one that is humored..

Enjoyed:-) Ryan |
Keep it coming Darrell!
Of course you need more than one car! Who didn't know that? |
A few more parts to add to the second engine.
Fuel line, non AC alternator brackets, washer pump delete plate:-) (That will make my car faster than hell on wheels:-) Ryan |
I am still here:-)
I need to take the steps to get back in the garage.... Admit I have a problem Get my ass in the garage and grind, and weld, and enjoy:-) I have a major outage/shut down at work so I will make plans following that to get back on track. I revised my revised schedule and I still believe I can drive the car summer 2018. Ryan I hope a Newfoundlander will move in next door to play cars all the time!!!! |

summer of 2018, good to know. VERY good chance mine won't be making Stanton this year so next year it is |
I am nearing the end of my busy time at work. 19 days straight:-)
Thanks for chiming in, I will be back working on my car soon. Ryan |
Update:
More thoeretical progress:-) I brought parts home from all over the US:-) Inline tube parts: Cowl seal, distributor cap, battery topper (don't hate I can't afford 500 for a battery) heater core, bare steel paint, (350 gold is already with the engine builder) Dan Vasic picked up and brought me used grilles, one is ok and the price was good. Grady Burch picked up parts for me from Dave Siltman, air bags, drag shocks, washer pump delete plate, W27 rear end cover, fuel line, non AC alternator brackets. Nick Morocco brought me aluminum shift linkage rods, heim joints, jam nuts, and a spicer 27 spline slip yoke. Jamie and I stopped at Summit in Talmaj Ohio OMG:-) Brad Penn break in and muscle car oil, Wix filters, AC plugs, 1969 Chevelle 4 speed hump for RamRod. Visited Tweed Vorhees and got bell brake drums and Lakewood hop stop bars. Parts, parts parts:-) Parts are nice, but Jamie and I had a trip we ail never forget and the parts are like a cherry on top. Ryan |
More theoretical progress :-)
I decided I wanted to put my M22 in a 69 COPO Chevelle..... I don't have one so I reached out to a couple guys restoring a COPO and as it turns out Grady Burch needed a trans for his "Ribbon COPO". "She went to a good home:-) As I was in a 69 COPO transmission frame of mind I firmed up with Nick Morocco to buy the Liberty Super T10, 2.64 first gear, First design, Trans from his Yenko:-) Also I threw in a few ice cream cones and we agreed on a zoom clutch, Hayes three finger "12 bolt" pressure plate, and Vertigate Shifter:-) If that doesn't give a car guy wood you better get little blue pills:-) I plan to use this and my Lakewood, Hotchkiss control arms, Lakewood no hop bars, air bags, drag shocks, etc, with the Mascar W31 at the FAST race at US131 by Martin MI. Whoot whoot Ryan |
I'd plan on a few test-n-tunes before going for the gusto.

Jamie and I visited Tweed Vorhees before NOCC.
This was a bucket list item for me:-) He has found and is restoring the pre production 1968 F85 RamRod Ron Garey raced!! He has Oldsmobile blood:-) Ryan |
Nice '68 F-85 :D
Dan |

A little more metal work.
This piece has more bends than straights, I was terrified to cut it out but WTH:-) The piece I cut and bent so far I think will be a template to make one slightly larger and slightly more accurate. Also the support is removed below so I can access both sides to dress it up before welding the support back on the bottom:-) Sam Grewal dropped off my original master cylinder and water pump at John Stuarts for a stainless sleeve and rebuild on the MS, and a rebuild of the WP, they are ready but I have to get to Stoney Creek to pick up some day soon.... My engine is completed and I have made arrangements with F.J. Smith to run it in on his Super Flo Dyno and tune it. This is a special item to me as FJ is a bit of an Ontario Oldsmobile Drag Race Legend. The engine builder will be part of the dyno day which makes me feel a better. I have to restore some more small parts for the outside of the engine such as pulleys, alt brackets, etc to be ready for the dyno. A good portion are ready: Carb, Ignition, spark plugs, WIX oil filters, Brad Penn break in oil, Brad Penn oil, I have had a few items delivered to my good friend oleredalert date code spark plug wires, wire retainers, fan belt, carb return spring, etc. I will drive this car, no ifs ands or buts!! (One butt in the drivers seat) Ryan |
Another "TinMan" ... good job!!

FJ will set you straight. I didn't know he did street tunes. He was/is one of the best in the business.

I was concerned he wouldn't want to dyno another persons work but no issue. Ryan |
So are we expecting (guessing) over/under 325hp?
I'd expect the mascar one to be over. well over. One of these days I should post my 31 build thread, but I'm having a hard enough time keeping up to date on the classicolds thread. Oh, and good call on the dyno. This way you just drop it in and go. |

Exciting!
|
I'm confused (easily done these days), what engine is going on the dyno? Or are both? I'm interested in both engine's results.
|

The engine I am having built locally is heading to FJ Smith for Dyno run in and tune this month or next. Mascar will build a W31 and dyno at their facility at a later date. Ryan W. |
Nice
look forward to the results |

I had a nice visit with Dave "Northernforce" and he picked up a few items I had collected for him.
We had a great chat, as always never enough time. Dave had a couple gifts for my project:-) the nicest NOS items of course. A special edition chrome oil filter (who has one of these?) And a super cool Canadian Late 1968 Dealer items (A frost shield) looks like you would put it on the windshield and the window would be clear of ice and snow. A super cool item to help my display later. Thanks Dave!!!! Ryan |
Never new that they even made a chrome oil filter cool !
|
It was nice to see the progress on Ryan's car.Never enough time to swap stories!!-Those oil filters also came with the AC logo stamped on the top of the filter.
Keep on Cruising!!! Dave |
