Ken,

Smart move. I know it`s tough to pick a color...the "Correct" color. But you just cannot go wrong with the original color. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Also.......After seeing the original color of the car while sanding (Gobi Beige) and looking at Marlin's car in Chevy Rumble..........I've decided to paint the car back to it's original color as it will be a "Unique" color combo..........So, Marlin......there will be at least two Gobi Beige cars around....LOL

it seems paint compatability is the new body shop catch phrase. long gone are the days of shooting a car in the yard on a calm day.
here's an article from this months chevy hiperf on just this subject. more smarts for the grey matter.

Re: Biscayne Resto Project

I thought that the "Fawn" color that the car was painted was Cameo Beige, when they sanded thru the paint to see how much paint was on the car.......is when the original paint color came thru, once I realized what was going on I had second thoughts........and again, after looking at the Marlin's Car in Chevy Rumble.....It hit me that was the "Perfect" color to paint it.......Can't see the Forest because of the "Trees"..........Duhhh

Hey Ken,

Sounds like it's going to be a cool car. We are in the process of restoring a White/red 65 Biscyane 2 door 409/400 right now. We are planning to paint it around the end of February and have it all done around May also. The 409 is all done and I just tore the M21 apart today for rebuilding. I'll look forward to seeing your car when it is done! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif
Steve

Now you know damn well you aren't getting away with just a teaser...is it a real 65 409 Biscayne ? Show us more...that is too cool.

Time to get back to work........the trans had 3 coats of paint on it, Orange, Black, and Aluminum........Stripped it down with Tal Strip Paint remover, a flexible scraper, a Tooth Brush and after fighting with it, I sealed it up and Glass Beaded it..........
The car go's For Media Blasting Tomorrow, back on Wednesday and back to the Paint Shop..........

Ken,
Thought you might get a kick out of these. I stopped at a guys shop this weekend and looked at some of his "drivers". Bel Air with a converted 396 4-speed with low mileage and in very good shape. Check out the Ramble which would make a killer Pro Touring car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif Both cars are for sale BTW.

Straight out of the Orange Engine Paint Can (Rattle) LOL.......After Assy, I'll just clean it real good with Laquer Thinner and Paint it.......Never had a problem......
Remember, this is a 6 month Garage Resto......

By the way......when I brought the Car back to the Body Shop, I had to clean it of all the Dust and Media material before the owner would let me put it in the Shop.......and even then I had to put it in the Dirty Room.....LOL.......As you remember, he's a Clean Freak https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
