Re: Vintage Wheels
These 200s wheels are presently on my 70 Trans Am. I bought these from a friend back in 1975 and had them on the car up until the mid 80s. I put them on once in awhile just to change the look when I go to the local cruses

Norwood, Love the 200's on your T/A. Do you have any pics of it out side? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Re: Vintage Wheels
These two-piece wheels have a beautiful chrome finish, and would look great on any vehicle, be it vintage or new.

Re: Vintage Wheels
know its getting a little nutty when you worry about what the valve stems look like.

Re: Vintage Wheels-Cleaning
I picked up an old set of Torq Thrust D's in survivor condition. They do need a good cleaning but they do not need a restoration. The natural centers currently have a gold colored patina and the machined lips are a bit oxidized. I am looking for suggestions on how to gently clean the centers (without loosing the gold tint) and clean the lips of oxidation without giving the lips a polished look. Any suggestions?

Re: Vintage Wheels-Cleaning
Try warm soapy water and a semi stiff scrub brush to get into the pores of the wheels. I always start with the most mild applications first and step up the intensity if it is not working. Good luck!

Re: Vintage Wheels
Jim ,
that 69 chevelle would look good with any tire wheel combo! Is that the cover car from muscle car review a few years back? |
Re: Vintage Wheels
Yep, that is the one...can't change much on it being a survivor..I can only swap wheels and tires around to keep it fresh for me..in the end i like the SS wheels best...

Re: Vintage Wheels
Ever see Joe Guerras 69 Motion Chevelle..the one he just sold? THAT is a look that is hard to beat...[Or even Sam's 69 Z with the Cragars on it]
...but thank you |
Re: Vintage Wheels
I just found out that the Cragar G/T's are a steel rim with an aluminum center. Not sure that I would put them on a drag car though?? Pretty cool wheels.
Anyone have experience with getting the Cragar center caps rechromed? |
Re: Vintage Wheels
I answered my own last question.
Does anyone know of these Cragar Sparklers like they have talked about on the HAMB? Sorry, I do not have the link. I just Googled Cragar Sparklers and they came up on that board. Pretty cool wheels! |
Re: Vintage Wheels
The Cragar Sparklers look like your Cragar G/T's.

Re: Vintage Wheels
That is what I am talking about, way to go and they look good. Six-corners you got it. Paul

Re: Vintage Wheels
Simply beautiful Dennis! Are they untouched/NOS originals?
|
Re: Vintage Wheels
Those are not mine. I posted on the H.A.M.B. site years ago about Cragar Sparklers and eventually someone did post pictures of those. He did state that he might sell them at some point. I am still waiting to see if that ever happens.

Re: Vintage Wheels
Oh those wheels are so sweeeeet!
|
Re: Vintage Wheels
These are some 70's era 5 spoke 14x8 rims. I got them with the car in the trunk with center caps but no decals. I had some vintage american racing center decals made up for visuals but some people have said they could be Keystones.

Re: Vintage Wheels
Car looks great. Wheels seem like they could be 7" wide. How do you know they are 8's?
I looked over to AKH and seems like they could be US Indy wheels http://www.akhwheels.com/pages/showWheel.php?pk=277 |
Re: Vintage Wheels
They look like Keystones to me
|
Re: Vintage Wheels
Could be! And I measured them when I installed the new tires last week.

Re: Vintage Wheels
This reminds me. I never took pictures of my NOS Kestone mags dated 1969. Nice Nova Jefferson. Any stories?
|
Re: Vintage Wheels
Cool Jed, didn't know you had a set. How were they identified?
|
Re: Vintage Wheels
Identified? They were still in the original boxes with the heavy cast caps and screws. Non unilug too. Flat black centers with brushed outer rim. 15x7 if I remember correctly? I will take pictures and post this weekend.

Nice!

Re: Vintage Wheels
Nice Tommy! Any center caps?
|
Re: Vintage Wheels
No, those spinners in the pic were on them but they aren't the correct ones. I imagine Caps for International Dragmasters are pretty hard to find.
