you are a machine Graeme. Good luck at the show.

WOW! GREAT job under pressure; Love this car.

Headed down to the show for a while today. Car's been well received with many saying it brings back memories from back in the day and lots of stories of their favorite street cars from 30-40 years ago. Also had a couple guys say thanks for putting a Nova back on the map and for doing this one right! Had a lot of fun there tonight and saw a lot of good friends. Here's a few angles taken before and after the show today.

Good thing I only do WOW shows about 7 years apart. Tired of walking, talking, and standing. Back is sore, knees are sore, jaw is sore. lol
One more day and it's load it up and come home to start on another car. |
BUT, nobody's eyes are sore looking at your nova. You did help put the "nova" back on the muscle car track Graeme. looks great!
|
Gotta agree with Sammy, Graeme! Car looks amazing...How do you like the cross ram?
Any fuel line leaks and how many sets did you use to get a set to stop leaking? I used three. Dave 67 Nova Boy |
Thanks Sam. It's been a lot of fun doing this car back like this.

Davey,
It's been in the minus teens here the past few weeks so I opted not to fire it in this cold weather. I turned it over last Thursday, but elected not to fire it until it warms up here. The lines are OE steel and they were pre-fit nicely so here's to hoping the leaks are minimal. I'm sure there will be one or two to deal with, but nothing as bad as the stainless lines. It was flipping cold when we unloaded last night, but the show is done and it was a lot of fun seeing some great people here in Calgary. The car won it's class inSuper Stock, and also won a premier class in Outstanding Street Machine. Here's a pic from last night as we loaded up indoors. https://i.ibb.co/Cw02H19/IMG-3116.jpg |
Congrats, well deserved!!!
What does the window sticker say? Ryan W31 |
It's a copy of an Ed Stinn dealer invoice I made as a reproduction with the original owners name and address noted, as well as listing the few options it was originally equipped with. Just something thrown together for people to read while looking the car over. Nothing too accurate.

Graeme is the man. The car won Super Stock, fitting for his nickname SS/LA. O Canada has a new SS champion.

Congrats Graeme. Paperwork looks great also. I was wondering if that was what was in your side window when I saw the pics of the car at the show.

Jiminey Graeme!! Did you leave any awards for the rest of the attendees?! Well done and CONGRATS!! Love it when a plan comes together especially with sEvErE time crunch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not being a trophy guy, I thought the car did great and got more enjoyment out of the people who viewed the car. Tons of action on the original paint and the lacquer checking which was a huge huge hit. The Cross Ram was another favorite for many people. I did know a few of the ISCA judges from previous years and each of them had some strong love for the car. Post awards, one called it "bitchin" while another said he'd really like to own it.
Thanks to Rich for the original Ed Stinn dealership paper, I made a photo copy and filled in a few blanks to go along with the car. That was a huge hit with the ladies as I saw many stop to read about it. Notably, a few stopped to share stories of their fathers or grandfathers having owned and driven Nova's. A couple ladies reminisced about old boyfriends who drove built up Nova's back in the day. Best part was meeting an older Nova guru who was citing off RPO numbers and production data like he ran the GM line. A very knowledgeable man who I really appreciated chatting with for some 45 minutes. He liked the original sheet metal and closely inspected the trunk to say it's one of the cleanest originals he'd ever seen. The car is now put away while I wait for warmer weather to arrive here. I want to roll it outside and fire it up so bad. Still bloody cold here for at least the next week. Hopefully this cold stuff breaks real soon as it's now been 4 straight weeks of deep freeze. Thanks again for all the comments and support on the car. It's been a fun one to slam through. Next on the rack is the green 69 which starts next week. |

Graeme, I found this pic from the weekend.
Not sure if you're on FB or not. |
Cool...
Just read some of the comments and people had some nice things to say in that post. Thanks for that Damien |
Hood is back on the car and exhaust is being fab'd up in the days ahead. Planning to fire it up this week and want to make sure I can still hear after I get it running and set the carbs up. Also had to kick it out of the back shop as the shop is now setup for another car to get assembled. I'll post some video when the Nova's fired up running later this week or early next week if I have to battle any leaks with the fuel lines. Busy week ahead of me so time permitting.

Looks good GB. Lets hope the snow stays away and the weather eases up a little for you too.
|
Weather's getting better but still hasn't hit the plus temps they were forecasting earlier in the week. Hoping to run the Crossram motor on Sunday and got a couple Day II mufflers rigged up for the initial start. Yes, those are a mint set of 692 Turbo's with turn outs behind them, and they are so gonna suit this car. I'll get these mounted up sometime tomorrow.

Bolted in some temporary exhaust on the weekend and couldn't wait for better weather to fire this thing up. It is supposed to hit 45-55 degrees in another few days but we rolled the car out to fire it up in the low 30's. Damn near froze with a brisk north wind out there but it was fun all the same. Had a few small fuel leaks to deal with but it fired up first turn and was a breeze to dial in. Still need to set the timing and adjust the float bowls, but ran it for 5 minutes before driving it back into the shop for the night. Here's a little compilation I threw together this evening. Video of the car running is right at the end of the project pics.
More when it's dialed in and properly timed. Sounds pretty nasty even through the exhaust. |
Graeme,
Great job on the car!! Started right up. Electric fuel pump or mechanical? Sounds really good and congratz on your fine work! Dave 67 Nova Boy |
