amazing condition 51 year old sheet metal
thanks for posting |
Thanks Joe. We will continue to update everyone with photos and to help document things.
Frank is cleaning up the firewall some more ...we can see some grease pencil markings on the firewall that appear to be a B , E, or possibly an F... but additional cleaning will help clarify these. Also you can see the assembly line was a little sloppy on the car with seam sealer and the paint on the firewall. The red oxide primer is very noticeable. |
Congratulations. . Just got this months issue. Much deserved press brother ...
|
Thanks Craig. I am still waiting on my copy. Hasn’t hit Columbus yet

Nicest body/sub frame I've ever seen on a first gen. Usually find some rust gremlins hiding somewhere - not on this one though.
|
Thank you as always Darrell. Bruce we are happy to share the progress of the car ... hopefully if it can help others that is our goal .
|
thanks Doug for letting us enjoy the progress of this once in a lifetime find. they just don't get any better than this one!
|
Agreed, that sub is pristine.
What method are you using to clean all those parts with - acid dipping, vapor blasting, or ? It's working great! |
Since we knew the parts were nice to begin with we decided on acid dipping .
|
Thanks for confirming Doug!
|
No problem...glad to help

AWESOME PRESS DOUG!!! CONGRATS!!!!
Just picked up the magazine. Rich |
Thank you Rich...Hug Ann for us

Will the original seam sealer be replicated or will it remain untouched?
Grease pencil looks like a D to me, possibly. Thanks, Marty |
D is the code for Nantucket...possibly could be.
As nice as the seam sealer is and it’s tight...we will probably freshen it up . |
Thanks for the reply and sharing the entire process with the collector car community.
I think it goes without saying that everyone is excited to see this one all finished up. It's a great color combo, great story with original owner contributing to the history of Yenko and the level of restoration it is receiving. Thanks, Marty |
Thanks Marty , John Weaver the original owner is actively involved in every detail. He was amazed seeing the car on the rotisserie...and he is giddy as we all are. Knowing Don Yenko himself was behind the wheel and Johns recollection of their drive together is priceless. Our goal is to score platinum at the Camaro Nationals when finished. It seems like everyone has rallied behind the car build and its place in Yenko history.

I went to see the car this weekend at Arone Restoration and as always the car looked awesome. I met Mark who has done a lot of the work on the car. Great young man. I will post some updated photos. All of the remaining parts are back from the chemical strippers. The undercarriage and subframe are ready for paint, and the body will be getting 1 more final coat of primer.
