My uncle John’s Heavy Chevy Chevelle he bought brand new. The snot nosed kid in the front seat is me. He owned it only a short time before a street race gone really bad. He survived the horrific crash going over 100mph and hitting an overhead train support pillar on Westchester ave in Bronx NY one night. Car was torn in half and he was ejected, not wear any belts. Spent months in hospital but made a full recovery, although horrible facial scars. He was my hero and the reason for my muscle car passion. He passed in early 90’s. The 70 Chevelle convertible he also bought brand new. SS 454 I wish I knew which version 454 it was. He was in Vietnam and told my aunt to go buy a new 70 Chevelle SS 454, he was pissed she bought a convertible and sold it to someone on Long Island soon after returning stateside and bought the Heavy Chevy Chevelle instead. Crazy but super fun memories for me. Rob

First car 73 Z28 , picture is me at 15 in April 1979 trying to wash rust off rear quarter panel . My dad replaced rear clip in 2 1/2 car garage at home . Cut windshield post and floor pan ahead of front seats an welded mint rear clip found at local wrecking yard to eliminate rust . My job was block sanding , sweeping etc . Had local body shop paint in original color brown lacquer and it looked like new car . Drove 73 Z for about a year till I talked my dad out of 70 Z28 he found around the time we finished the 73 . If he could sell 73 for enough he would sell me the 70 Z . Drove 70 through most of senior year HS and still have 42 years later . Amazing that it survived unscathed after many very close calls .

Far from a Super car, but I bought this SS El Camino new in 73 from Jerrys Chevrolet in Baltimore.
Pic with the trophys was after a weekend at Capitol Raceway voiding its warranty, smog removed, intake and headers installed. https://i.postimg.cc/QdG3mLZj/el-camino.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/GmHX4t52/001.jpg |
These pics are great! Awesome thread.

Here's two photos from the Santa Claus parade in London, Ontario, 1982 - that's me in the passenger side and two DJs from the infamous FM96 on the back.
The third photo is earlier that summer after a Ron Box paint job. The last photo is from this summer of a T-Type in the same spot. Cheers all, Anthony |

67 Camaro 4P
2 Attachment(s)
My first car, 67 Camaro 4P. RS-SS standard black interior w. console n 4 speed. Down the road I put a 402 from my brothers 70 Chevelle in it and installed 456 rear gears. That’s when I got hooked on Big Block Camaros.
Most guys in town were running Cragars on their cars, I wanted to be different so I went with Keystones. |
As a follow up: Yes, that one DJ is wearing a Ronald Reagan facemask... not sure why other than it was hip to do in 1982...
Also, the car was recently restored by Box Auto Body in that third photo and apparently the antenna hole was already in the replacement fender bought at the dealer and installed there. The hockey stick stripes weren't reapplied and it was still wearing the 1967 rallys my dad installed very early in the car's life with the flat disc brake derby caps... It's a great memory, that ride in the parade... was a cool experience for 11 year old me. |

I’ll throw a pic or two of my RAIV bird in here
Pontiaction w blue and red is from 69 race season. All blue Pontiaction is from 70 race season. I raced the car myself for about 15 years. Last pic is island dragway part of the NETO racing program which was a lot of fun. There was a 68 RAII GTO and a 70-73 firebird pro stocker too. I have the drive train from the 70 up pro stock car as well as the block from the 68 RAII GTO, my car had its short block swapped w the RAII that had been blueprinted and balanced by jack Merkel for the previous season. (Cost saving measure and the GTO Ran well so guess they figured why mess w success .) the ram air V pro stock dual quad engine is currently in the car But the SR RAIV short block from Stephens is at the machine shop so will get a RAIV back in there soon. Hard to take the RAV engine out but eventually I’ll (hopefully) resurrect the 70 pro stocker as well. Technically there was a 64 GTO as well but it was driven by Bob gaudreau and not owned by stephens just sponsored. |
Them round port heads are so sexy.

For some reason I think my kid brother wasn't happy with me doing a quick clutch job on the LS6 in my parents garage before my weekend street racing night at Don Lens Diner and Shoppers Paradise (like a walmart) at Nanuet and Spring Valley NY, probably 3-4 hundred cars easy on a friday/saturday nite. The Quarter was marked well from the Garden State Pkwy to welcome to the NYS Thruway sign!

Third Owner wanted (She), a Green Camaro. Finding a Red SSRS396 in Tacoma in 1970 that was traded in on a 307 Malibu due to the Mark IV smoking slightly.
July of 1970 (Red) Aug of 1970 (Green) Weird that a RS emblem on grill was owner swapped. She was kind to share her photos of the car for me to scan. |

Other than the wheels, this is how it was sold when the dealership stopped the racing program. These are pictures of pictures; the car is still mainly/mostly original paint, but the color in the pictures is obviously not consistent. |
^^^ Crowsfeet TTs.....you so rarely see them on an a-body, and they look cool as heck!
