Went to Amelia Island last year and had a blast! Congrats to both of you guys! Quite an honor to just be invited; the ribbon was icing on the cake!

browncopo 06-08-2017 12:32 AM

looking forward to coming to carlisle in june to see the brown copo at the gm nationals.i'm flying from puyallup washington. quite a distance to look at a car, but considering the car , it's worth it!

DW31S 06-08-2017 01:03 PM

You won't be disappointed in that car!

novadude 06-25-2017 02:36 PM

Saw the car yesterday. Even better in person!

big gear head 06-25-2017 05:13 PM

Maybe I just missed it, but I didn't see any information on the engine that went in this car. Would you mind posting some more on this? This is an awesome car and you guys did a great job on it. Any chance it will be at SCR20?

YenkoChevelle69 07-06-2017 11:02 PM

Wow! I heard you talk about this car at NOCC16. Absolutely amazing!

browncopo 08-01-2017 10:26 PM

well, it's been over a month since Carlisle and I wasn't disappointed. It was great to meet Grady and Mike and of course see the camaro with one color of brown on it. I think they did an amazing job on the car. The magazine stuff was great (pictures). Also, very interesting talking to Matt Avery. I hope he'll use some pictures and maybe a story or two in his book. My buddy Jim Gelenser took me down to Skip's house to see his orange 69z. Wow, what a car! Thanks to Jim and his wife Mary for having me as a guest for my vacation. I really enjoyed the car show and my trip. When I got home we went to Barnes and Noble to get Muscle Car Review so I can get a subscription and lo and behold there was coverage of Amelia Island with two nice pictures of the car(page 46). What a bonus! Can't wait for the full feature to come out. Thanks for a memorable trip.

I enjoyed it as well, nice to hear all the cool stories.
Still amazed at how well this build has been received.

COPO CARTEL 09-07-2017 04:17 PM

Neat car and restoration ... it would be cool to see that car make a pass down the dragstrip at full speed...any idea what it would run ?

Here are a few shots of that car from the SLS #4 I think. At that time Chick came to see his old car for the first time in many years, and meet Grady and share some of the original paperwork. Thanks goes to Skip for setting it up.
And then at another SLS event Skip drives up with the then "Brown Turd" , and the rest is history.
I think you may see from these shots why I first was not as excited about it as Grady was. But what a great story for the Nova to go back to Chick Renn the original owner and his family, I know they were all on board with the car coming home.

It was great to do another car with Grady, he does what it takes to do a great car, as seen with all the period correct Day 2 parts used on this build. They Day 2 stuff always creats a few problems along the way, which I reminded Grady about as each new one popped up. I think my exact words were , "Hay Grady it's Day 2" deal with it...
Grady was a hugh help on getting this car done in time for the show. He worked allot on all the day 2 installtions. We only started the first of January, I won't do that again. But we both agreed it was doable. And it sure paid off, was way more fun that doing anothe cookie cutter COPO.
I got a little testy a few times but grady already knows I am a PITA

Thanks Grady, you ready for another one ? Can't let Tibor show us up...to much. And that Dave guy down in Texas.....Gheeez.

Mike

Gee, somehow I missed this when it was first posted but thanks Mike. Yes, when I saw the car in 2012 at Carlisle (pics shown) that was the first I had seen it in 29 years.
Grady's day two is without a doubt the best one I've ever laid eyes on. Great job Mike and Grady!

Thanks Jeff and good talking to you as well friend! Still have those hooker headers I sold you in 1983? LOL

harry401 10-23-2017 11:05 PM

My first car in 1976 was a burnished brown 69 Chevelle 396. Auto on the column. Black vinyl top and interior ...I still miss that car and think that color sets off the chrome as well as any other

m22mike 10-23-2017 11:27 PM

Chick
That was A very cool day, meeting you and enjoying your reunion with your awesome Nova, back in great hands now.
