Sam,

The shots inside the back shop are Interlogix TruVision 3MP and 4MP IP Cameras. Just a couple parts included in our professional CCTV systems that we sell and install for our commercial customers and financial institutions.

Thanks Norcam. Great quality, a bit too steep for me!

NorCam 04-01-2017 02:54 AM

Been busy with my shop while moving gas pumps and signs around to cleanup the house garage. Trying to get this one cleaned up so it's more of a display garage for the cars rather than a large collection of oil & gas collectibles. At the same time, I put up another wall mural which really added some pop to this wall above the red cabinets. Ties in nicely with the lower cabinet colors.

4 years and 8 months ago I started my 30'x30'
My son, my wife(great big thank you for their help!) and I did insulation, sheet rock (56 sheets of it!) thought we would never finish hanging rock
boy did it get small fast. I love having my own lift and A/C
"build it big as you can" - my advice to future builders

Threads been a bit stagnant as of late so thought I'd post a few updates from my second shop out back here. I've slowly been changing the theme of the garage to fit with the cars as I seek out things from GM, AC Delco, and vintage automotive suppliers.

Just recently I found these cool STP Signs straight from an old Nascar crew chief who had them from the 60's. Pit boards on the backside to call the drivers to the pits. Can you guess who he crewed for?
https://thumb.ibb.co/gMAYGR/IMG_7339.jpg

This DST AC/Delco Service was scooped at an auction a while ago and still needs to be hung. I have a great spot for it, just need to carry a ladder around and do it one of these days.

The light up clock was from another member here and just arrived a while ago. Adding more AC Delco as things roll along and hope to mount this clock sign in the weeks ahead.

Here's the pair of Nascar sign boards before and after they were hung in my work shop.

It was a PITA reaching back up over this cabinet to mount the first sign.

Second one placed on the adjacent side of the same wall.

I'm digging the look of these vintage signs in this shop.

shop looks great! how do you like that lift? looking for one and surprised and how many brands there are.

NorCam 12-19-2017 02:25 AM

There are tons of lifts out there now with the Chinese having driven the prices way down. Some of them are really good with high quality ramps, decent pumps and are completely powder coated. This one came from a local distributor who's sold thousands of them now and I couldn't be happier with it. Was in the $2500 range when I bought it and is rated for 8000lb.

Came with Poly casters for easy moves, drip trays, drip tarp, H/D tool tray and scissor jack for the tray. Pays to shop around.

I thought about posting pictures of my garage all year but was kind of intimidated by some of the fantastic shops shown here. Today I told myself to just do it. I've built some cabinets and a work bench, hung some signs and banners and finally displayed most of the awards and dash plaques I've won over the last 30 some years. It works for me.

mockingbird812 12-28-2017 09:49 PM

It looks great Robert! Of course I am partial to that handsome stallion that is a true opposite to my Black/Red L78! Thanks for posting!!!

tunes 12-29-2017 12:34 AM

This garage seemed huge compared to what I used to have but now I wish I had more space.

Thanks for the compliments. I spend a lot of time out there.

Before-pics of the shop

Hi guys !
I havenīt been that active on this forum the past year and the reason is the brickbuilding in the pic. For some years I have been looking for an old gasstation/garage closer to the coastline so that I can spend time in the garage while the kids and grandkids go to the beach. Well, last march I found something I couldnīt resist. Itīs an old dairy from around 1898, originally built using yellow bricks. But in the 30īs, 40īs and 50īs they expanded the building to about twice the size of the original one, using red bricks instead. It is now something like 3725 Square feet in ground level.

One day last week I first went to the dairy and then in the evening I went to pick up a L78 shortblock for the Nova. While going back home with the shortblock in the car I came up with the idea of showing you the building that will house a garage in the future. As you can see there is no garagedoor so that I can get a car in from the yard. But before making that happen I will have to make the place suitable for living. There has always been people living in the building, but I think we need another level of comfort.

More pics to come.

This pic was taken from the opposite side. The original yellow wall on the right and the lower part of the chimney on the left.

Here is a pic (of the original smaller building) that I have dated by identifying the Ford model T on the left and also the one on the right. The right one was registered in may of 1927 and the left one was scrapped in dec of 1929. So the pic was taken during the summer of 1927, -28 or -29. In the late 19īth century butter was an important product for our country. I believe at least 5% of the export revenue came from butter.

This is what it looks like looking towards the coastline, which is about 9 miles beyond the windmill. Nomally living in the forests, this is a pleasant view for us.

This is where I will be working on the cars. Itīs a small part of the building but it will work great I think when ready. Pic was taken the first day we had access to it so dirt and stuff was left by the old owner. The cooling machine on the left was built by a subsidiary to the York Shipley Company in Pa. I believe one of Shipleyīs sons started the english company.

Made a quick trip to Vancouver this weekend to pickup a few vintage GM Porcelain signs for my shop. I'll hang these soon and then have some floors to finish things up. More pics when it's all done.

Started making room for the new signs to go up in the house garage and hung two of them yesterday. Still have 2 more to go but gotta do some clean up before moving cars around again. Two 60" GM Canada Porcelain Shields Circa 1948 to late 1960's.
