My W-31 in 76 in front of my parents house in east Vancouver, BC.
Originally had a white painted roof and stripes. I went for a narrower gold stripe on the sides. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...1on12thAve.jpg |

"Muscle car" might be debatable, but it did go 14.90's on it's first outing, and has been 12.25 with the original engine, so I'll include it here:

Hill climb in Empire, Michigan.
The Z belonged to Fred Meissinger, who was a GM/Chevrolet executive. He retired as the Plant Manager for the Adrian manufacturing plant. The Corvette belonged to Denny Hall, also a GM exec. Denny was head of CPC Advanced Manufacturing engineering when he retired. Yes - Mr Wangers won that matchup, as you might expect, but left too soon in the "Little Eliminator" final round against Dave Strickler. K http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...ompson2007.jpg |

Bill Jenkins! Dave 67 Nova Boy </div></div> Yes! But there's more.... K </div></div> Bill Jenkins and a lot of GM suits? </div></div> Exactly. It might not be obvious but that picture was taken on the short straight at the GM Desert Proving Ground. I'm not exactly sure what is going on there but Jenkins is putting the hurt on a (presumably stock) '68 Corvette under the watchful eye of a bunch of GM suits. The way I came to get that picture: I worked at the DPG for about 4 years, back in the early 90's. One day on my way in I happened to cut through the Administration building and noticed a nice photo montage of historic/vintage pictures. That one caught my eye because I thought that Camaro looked awfully familiar! I asked the lady in the photo lab if I could get a copy and she very graciously found the negative and made two new prints for me. I've kept them in my files since then. I have a friend who worked as the GM engineer on the Penske/Donahue Sunoco Camaro. I asked him if perhaps he knew what the occasion was but he was not able to shed any additional light on the subject. K |
