Re: Tone Blue
Ladies and gentleman, I am nearing the end of an almost 5yr build and I'm coming down to the wire! Just getting the last few final details for the car. I have not installed tje Rev-Pol switch and coil, the exhaust, front seat (out to be recovered), rear end and traction bars. When I finally take the time to post pics, there will be a lot to look at! I just wish I could post pics on here from my phone!
Oops and the Tow tabs need to go on too! Didn't forget you pxtx! |

Re: Tone Blue
Hey Jed,
I noticed you have the hood scoop insert on your stinger hood! I have just purchased a fibre repop hood for my 72 Nova and like the look of the insert. So does the Vett repop insert install OK? cheers Dave |
Re: Tone Blue
It takes quite a few hours to get it right. About 40+ all said and done.

Re: Tone Blue
Looking good! Plenty of time to get it ready to drive to the SLS at Carlisle. It would be cool if we tried to fill the parking lot like an old Muscle Car hang-out!

Re: Tone Blue
Thanks Bruce!

Re: Tone Blue
I took care of some Gremlins over the weekend and took the car for a short jaunt in the neighborhood. Had her sideways with a quick stab of the gas. Partly because of the redlines, I think?
The Rev-Pol switch is in and functions as I had thought. The more I rev the gas in strip mode, the brighter the light gets. When I let off the gas, it pops through the exhaust. It does not do that in the street mode. So I guess it has a little extra spark that's jumping across the points? And a factory style 4 blade fan keeps the temp rather well, ideling with a few passes up and down the driveway ofcourse. Anyone have any problems with a retro or repro radio? Bought one last year at Maple Grove Super Chevy last year. Tested it out in the car and everything was fine. Now all of a sudden, I can't even get the thing to turn on. I just get a blip of the blue L E Ds and that's it. |
Re: Tone Blue
Good up date. Glad to hear the rev pol system is working as planned.

Re: Tone Blue
That is such a groovy paint combo .... Killer look what motor / trans combo?
|
Re: Tone Blue
From what I remember decoding on the block, it was an 81 Camaro 350 4brl, 2 bolt mains. It was given to me when I was 10 by my uncle. The block was decked, bored .030 over. The heads were cut .014. New valves, springs, and guides. Flat top hypereutectic pistons, cast crank, -.010, rods, -.010. The cam is a .462 .469 lift. Double roller chain. Assembled by myself and my father. Machine work was done at a shop. Older Edelbrock valve covers and a c3b intake with a 600 Holley, Mallory Rev-Pol dual point ignition system. I rebuilt and set up the distributor as well. White ceramic coated Hooker headers.
The trans is out of a 76 Vette. Turbo 350. That trans was originally in my first Nova. Blew that up the night before my senior prom. Had it ever since. I took the whole thing apart first, just to see what damage I had done. Turned out to be a band and clutches. That was sent out to be rebuilt and checked. 1400rmp tci torque converter. No shift kit at the moment. The rear is an 8.5 out of a 72 Nova that I upgraded to a 3.42 Eaton Posi. I rebuilt that and set that up myself. And a set of Lakewood slapper bars. Too many of the guys know on this site that I am an alignment and exhaust system away from getting it on the road. It's been a 5yr labor of love and enjoyed juuuust about every minute of it. I met a lot of great people along the way and I still am. You all know who you are so far! I hope to meet many more. |

Re: Tone Blue
Just a quick update. Sold my Orange 70 Nova two weeks ago. Had to let her go.
The exhaust on the car will be buttoned up this week. It's a 2.5 in Flowmaster American Thunder Transverse system that I installed in a weekend. Quick note, if you ever install one of these systems, make sure the H-pipe is installed in the right direction. Bends in the H-pipe must point down towards the ground. The install instructions did not have that listed. A quick phone call to Flowmaster was well worth it. Even the tech on the other end noted that they neglected to mention this important piece of info. I also used the original type exhaust hangers to hang the pipes up over the axel. My car was never a dual car, but I put nutserts in just because I hate taking the backseat out to get at nuts and bolts. As I am not a dual exhaust out the back kind of guy, I borrowed an original GM 69 Nova exhaust tip from bbbenny and copied the tips. At the moment, I am going to make them work for that subtle stock look. So far, everything fit up nicely and it still has that rumble I was looking for. Come on warm weather! |
