I had no idea "genuine knock-off wire wheels" were ever available on a Corvair.

Did that really make it into production? How many were sold? Anyone ever see one?

----I believe the wire wheels were produced by Dayton Wire Wheels. The spinners are just about an exact duplicate of the Dayton spinners you can still buy from them with the execption of some machine work and a GM emblem embeded. These same spinners along with different gear drive adaptors were planned for 63 Corvettes, but somewhere along the line were replaced by the current spinners and pin drive adaptors!....Bill S

I can see why they weren't used very long. They don't LOOK much different from wire hubcaps. Would be hard to justify the extra cost.
