I know what you mean. Other people make me nervous too. Never know if someone else takes the care that you or I share.

I also believe a big part of what is driving these prices is the current state we are in with the availability of parts. I mean who wants to build a car right now when you have to wait months for parts? Just buy one done, usually cheaper than the build cost anyway.

I waited 3 months to get quarter panels and 4 months for the outer wheel houses needed to go with them. I've had an exhaust system on order since early November last year and it's not predicted to be in till the end of February. I'm betting that'll get pushed back further when the end of February gets here.
I've had a 4L80E on order since the beginning of December. Still told it'll be at least February. Hughes is having trouble getting the clutches they like to use. So many cam cores are out of stock, and aluminum heads are like hens teeth, I've got 2 engines I can't finish. I've gotten to the point I've stopped ordering stuff if it's not in stock and let the projects sit.

Update the album this morning. Sooooo tired. https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/Bar...ottsdale-2022/

Many times a consigner or bidder will ask me what I predict a car will sell for. Besides the ramifications that could come from doing that, predictions are just impossible at BJ Scottsdale. Besides the already mentioned cars, a buddy’s unrestored green ‘70 Chevelle LS6 sells for $300K, surpassing their expectation while the restored yellow ‘70 Chevelle LS6 sells for $180K, under that consigner’s expectation.

Met an awesome local couple with disposable income that bought the pink 5th gen Camaro with 32” wheels because it was hilarious looking. Sure did get TONS of attention. Many others bought cars because they liked them.

One more day of selling then I’m done. Don’t think there is TV coverage today.

Last update from Scottsdale 2022; https://onewaystreet.smugmug.com/Bar...ottsdale-2022/

First time in 10 years (that I know of) where an auction vehicle transmission locked up in the staging lanes and the vehicle was pushed over the block while on casters. Never know what will happen at an auction.
