I met Jack Stein the owner of Keystone Motors in Doylestown PA, a few years back when I was tracing back my 1969 Garnet Red SS/RS L78 ownership that he sold in 73 and he said at that time he also had a 1969 Garnet Red L78 SS/RS with a white hounds tooth interior as well as a white hounds tooth top- Unfortunately the car was stolen and never recovered- I would love to see that combo on a 69 Camaro!

If it was a custom order, he'd insist on a big deposit, because he didn't want to get stuck with it. If it was a stock order, the one who ordered it would get a tune up! LOL

Great story. Did you see anything out of the ordinary color-wise?

I went to trade school with a guy that ordered a 69 Chevelle SS 396 in Yellow with a red painted top. It also had bright red interior god it was awful.

Summer of 1968, parked at the local hang-out lot. A guy rolls in with a spanking new Coronet R/T. Bright blue with bright red interior. He explains that he ordered it with black int, came red by mistake and he didn't want to wait for a re-order. Ouch!

Haha. Been there, done that. I'm the inventory manager at Chevy Cadillac dealer now and I've been ordering cars for almost 20 years now. Sometimes I like to order unusual combos just to have something different on the lot.

Back in 2001 or 2002, I was able to order a Silver WS6 Trans Am with Taupe interior. It was a color combo that, for most of the year wasn't available and it was never published that you could order that combo. I was just playing around with orders and the system let me order that combo one day so I let it ride.

When the car came in, it was not attractive at all and our GM did not approve of my decision. The car sold within 2 days of hitting the lot and my ordering was never questioned again after that. lol

That car had to have been a one of less than 5 ever made. It was a 6 speed too. I still have a copy of the invoice somewhere.

I'm digging all these 'odd' color cars....that black/yellow COPO needs a houndstooth vinyl roof to match the seats!....LOL

Back in the day I had a Blue Gremlin to store the ta away for the winter, not really a bad Combo, but the Levi Jean interior was strange, I wanted the Le I interior in mine. Lol

I thought of this one immediately when I saw the title of this thread.

They had one just like this in the Henry Ford Museum. I figured the museum must have purposefully chosen the ugliest Corvette ever conceived for their display.

Since then - I'm pretty sure I've seen another (or perhaps the same car) on display in the Gilmore Museum.
