Excellent article, thanks for posting, the outpouring of feedback by the many Photobucket Users who, like many of us, had their forum photos wiped out may cause the company to rethink their fee for service decision or at least offer Users affordable, economic alternatives to continue. As the author states: " The chances are that the company will back down over the next few days,...". We'll see.

Only slightly different than the EpiPen controversy - Corporation decides they have a hostage audience and can charge whatever they want for their product. Difference here is the customers have decided they can live without Photobucket and are leaving by the thousands, regardless of the carnage it has caused on boards like this.

Greed has destroyed many a company -- Photobucket is probably next ... TAZ

Seems Photobucket is finally responding with a "limited time offer" (7 days) that includes 3rd Party hosting and a storage allowance for $99/annually. I think this concession offer is expensive (under $50 annually would be a more reasonable price point) however its far less than the $399/ annually they have been demanding until now. Here is a copy of the offer:

We would like to offer a tailored plan for users just like you - our Premium plan for $99.99 / year.

The Premium plan will provide 3rd party hosting for non-commercial use on your forums, blogs, and personal websites*. Additionally, you will be able to store up to 300,000 photos.

We are working on some exciting changes for 2018. This is our exclusive introductory price and this offer will expire in 7 days.

They are getting closer, but $99/year.... still too much. I wonder how many people jumped on the $399/year deal. Maybe if you own a business, but even then, I still think they were overpriced when other hosting sites are still free.

I can't believe you guys are considering paying them a dime after what they did.

Found this online, havnt tried it as yet....

Seems there is a workaround for Photobucket's third party hosting ban.

If you edit your old posts and add ~original to the end of the image file name it should display property. So if you image tag looks something like this

my_image_file_name.jpg[/IMG]

change it to

my_image_file_name.jpg~original[/IMG]

I have no idea how long this will continue to work.
