Those 302's can have all the cam they want but ya gotta give it some gearing or you will not even be able to pull away from a stop sign.
Most important part in making a a SBC run is found under the trunk floor.

Thanks for all the info. and comments, the 140 is dialing in nicely since making several small adjustments, since I recently retired I have time to do what I like, such as detail my Camaro a bit, build & tune engines ,rebuild 12 Bolt rear ends, buy & sell early Camaro parts, rebuild Bravo outdrives on powerboats, and lots of other stuff that keeps me busy.
Thanks for the info. on Camaros.net forums, I will check it out.

yep -- 4:88 or 5:38 depending on how tall the slicks are ... let her wind!

Nope, the ring and pinion. Point is, gearing is what really helps a SBC perform.
Many want big cams, big carbs etc. and often overlook the gearing for the little motors.

I have a set of 4;10 &amp; 4;56 gears on the shelf I may try a 4;10 first

Try the gears you have on the shelf but Richmond make's New 4.33 gears also.

The 68 Z I used to drive had 5.38's. Running kick down on the street at any speed up to 100 was just plain easy.
