Pappaw drove it for the first time in about 9 or 10 years today.

No, I just got my learner's and the speedo doesn't work, which means I can't drive it because I still need it to avoid speeding. Besides, a 17 year old knucklehead and 450hp with 4.56 gears is not a good combo. It stays at our house, and Pappaw normally don't drive them, Dad does, but I told him he HAD to, it's his car and I'd like for him to get to enjoy them more.

We do need to set the idle. Pedal sticks a bit so it sat at 1200 rpm, so Dad tried to tune it lower. It'll die at a light now because it's just too low.

Well, it's pretty much finished now. It DOES need a new door latch on the passenger side, since you can't open it from inside. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-47918-001.jpg

We also tucked the wiring under the dash a bit better.

There is a link between the inside door handle and the latch -- it has probably come loose. Pull the inside door panel and check it out. TAZ

That's the thing. Pappaw did a few years ago and it was all hooked up just fine.

OK -- time to replace it ... those latches are common to many GM cars. Check with some of the suppliers listed on the RH side of the main page. Not to hard to change -- three screws and a few clips. TAZ
