Re: Yenko Deuce
Looks great. The rivets are from a repair, as is the red overspray on the firewall. The mouse nest is quite common, you just might find the broadcast sheet in there!

Re: Yenko Deuce
There was a Cranberry Red Deuce sold at Rogers Chev in Rantoul, Il. -- sold to a young lady. I have no idea what happened to it or where it went from there.

Hey Marlin, I know it may appear to be a repair but I can assure you it is not, yes the car was repainted at some point in its life, however the fenders were not removed and this is original paint. In person its very easy for us to see that this is original paint and that their is no damage in this area at all. We at first thought the same as you as its was fairly common that rivets or welded on nipples were used to pull out dents, however this is not the case as there is no damage in the area, no bondo, no distortion from pulling and no evidence of pulling or abrasion on the rivets. I will send you some detailed pictures at high res so you can blow them up. Its really not a big deal, but I think its very cool that we can document that some weird stuff did occur on the line at times, either way, the car is awesome and looking forward to sharing as we go . Fun stuff https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_2045.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_2030.jpg |
Re: Yenko Deuce
Looks like you are correct, I thought I saw a wrinkle in the previous picture and thought 'dent pulling'. Hmm... wonder what they were up to that day! Nice shop, who wouldn't like to restore their ride in that environment!

Re: Yenko Deuce
Yeah, it looks like they were practicing with the "nipple" installation tack welder. Aren't those the same little attachment nipples that the vinyl top trim and windshield clips are attached to?
|
Re: Yenko Deuce
Yes they are the nipples that attach the clips for the front and rear glass mouldings.

Re: Yenko Deuce
Having worked in a factory 30 years, they may have "smoked lunch" that day. Especially in that time period.

Re: Yenko Deuce
I have seen studs like that before on Camaros..BKH

Re: Yenko Deuce
Entirely too much time on their hands -- boredom or some sort of firefight with rivet guns.

Re: Yenko Deuce
We've taken a lot of Deuces apart over the last 19 years, and that's the first we've seen that! You learn something every day on these Yenko cars.
