I have mixed feelings about a photo like this. On one hand it shows the harvesting of Old Growth Forests, probably in the Pacific Northwest. Once their are gone, they are gone forever. On the other hand . . . you can't stop progress and lumber was needed for a growing America. |

You remember the size of the alligator I posted yesterday: 700 lbs and 13 feet. Well about 70 million years ago, prehistoric crocs grew to 33 feet! That's about the same size as a mature Whale Shark today. |

You might note on the concept car the roof and door beltline were transparent. For production those were emulated by painting those portions gloss black regardless of the vehicle exterior primary color. The only problem was: Detroit Hamtramck did not have the ability to paint two-toned vehicles. So every Volt (as opposed to Buick Lucerne and Cadillac DTS, which were built alongside the Volt) had to be run back through the paint repair process to have the second color added. That proved to be pretty inefficient so the black roof and beavertail were eliminated for 2012 model year and beyond as a cost savings. K |

A GM employee won with the suggestion "Veridian Joule". Sadly - I don't remember what he won, nor do I remember what we called it prior to that. K |
