The 1966 427 Fairlane 500 was part of the Total Performance Ford program. Designed to compete in B/Super Stock it was an $1800 option. Only 57 were built - enough to homologate the car as per NHRA rules. Not as powerful as the Thunderbolt: 10.5:1 CR (instead of 13:1) using a mid-riser 427 (not high riser) these cars could easily get into the 11 sec range. What's most unique about them is they have front disc brakes (manual) - the first intermediate Ford cars to have them. All came in white with black vinyl interior with the lift off super light fiberglass hood. 3.89 Detriot Locker Special Nodular 9" Ford rear with the new HD Ford Toploader 4 speed tranny. The cars were streetable though all were prepped for the drag strip. |

Though it's a 69 and probably home built, this was what Dodge was considering for the 1970 Charger R/T as a Ram Air option. Never made it though. |

I know absolutely zero about motorcycles, other than I have no interest in them. But every now and then a photo of one will catch my eye and I will post it - like this one. |

My host, btw, was totally chill about the whole thing. He said "yeah - they've been practicing all week, so we are pretty immune by now". What's funny is that same thing happened to me in Arizona. Williams Field AFB was right across Ellsworth Road from the GM Desert Proving Ground. When it was time for the annual "Willie Field Days" we would climb onto the roof of the building and watch the Blue Angels practice for the week prior. K |
