Dan Jensen did the ignition top to bottom and recommended the crane unit. Can't wait to be finding out what makes the most horsepower vs what grinds the best:-) Ryan PS: Update: I have a welder (machine/gas/Helmut/etc) ready to pick up so I can start small repairs:-) Not sure of the Easter bunny will keep us busy every second of the weekend.... |

Captured a few parts today:-)
I bought the Moog springs from Danny T's new SS3396:-) Also bought a console cover (the guy I bought it from has a few very cool Oldsmobiles) the plate is for a 3 speed, who would get the manual trans, pay for a console and not upgrade to 4 speed? Ryan |

I plan to fuse metal this weekend:-)
Ryan |
Ryan, did your car have a console?
|
My car came new with buckets no console. (and I really like this)
I bought the top plate as I love the look of the 1969 Cutlass/442 console and it was available:-) I have three transmissions, three different shifters, and two or three different boots, so it seems I should have console and no console options:-) I want to modify the tunnel and hump for all these different options ahead of time, and hope the console will work with the RamRod. I can imagine the RamRod would look pretty cool hanging out of the original console:-) Ryan PS: The console base is quite expensive repop so I hope to find a broken inexpensive base (unwanted) to repair. |
A console hides all that is Muscular and Beautiful of a vintage shifter such as a Ram Rod, JMO. Plus, a non console car is just that much more unique and special.

AMEN TO ALL THAT!!! :beers: ~ Pete . |
I hate to break your heart, but imagining is all you're gonna be doing to get a Ram Rod or a real Super Shifter to work with your console without some heavy modifications.
|
I love the buckets no console big time but love the idea of switching it up:-)
I can use the RamRod with the Red H boot and no console too. Not sure how the hole in the carpet will line up with each option so I will probably cut the hole to match the original set up and see if that will be ok? PS: I picked up some sheet metal after work to make little patches:-) Ryan |
Copy that Dave.
When I have all these items in th same place at the same time I will confirm. (Not going to cut the original console top plate) Ryan PS: Please take Good care of your back!! PPS: Please ask around for a garbage base for me, or two!!! |
Call Tweed, he had one.
|
Tweed will keep an eye out:-)
Thanks Ryan |
Progress:-)
I got a water hose set up in case of Fire, and removed all solvents and flammables and cleaned up in the garage to be safe. I repaired the small rust spots on the bottom edge of the passenger side wheel well. I sprayed everything with Zinc weld through primer and mig welded the pieces in and then drilled holes where spot welds used to be and welded small rosettes to mimic spot welds. This area will be undercoated so some of this will be hidden. Today was fun, even Terry "RamblerDealer" dropped by with an SRT10 Jeep for Mrs RamblerDealer:-) we had a nice visit, we agreed the only way to eat this elephant is one bite at a time. Ryan |

Progress !!
I worked on the drivers side wheel well today, where it meets the trunk floor and trunk support. Removed the bad, welded in new metal and sprayed it with weld through primer. I also cut out the next repair location and measures the replacement piece, it needs a lip, and the whole piece is slightly round vs flat..... more learning. Ryan |

Collecting flywheels are we? Well, you do have three trannies, a different Shifter for every day of the week, probably have a few mills......
Just bustin on ya Ryan! Keep that nose to the grinding wheel...... |

Ryan PS: I plan to media blast my chunk of 4 speed floor this week "hump" |
Get a driveshaft made, especially with a stick and a few extra ponies under that hood.
|
Spent a bit of tonight chatting with Nick Morocco about 12 bolt Chevy rear ends, 4.56 gears, driveshafts, slip yokes, pressure plates, clutches, splines, shifters, RamRod shifter shafts, hiem joints.
We really have some similar interests!!!!!! I have had so much support working on my Cutlass that I try to find a few small situations that I can help others to keep the Karma wheel spinning!! A friend needs a Mustang looked at here in Ontario so I plan to have a look this week:-) I am not sure if this one comes with a saddle, or a propeller, or a steering wheel? As far as I can tell this trip lines up with pick up on the console top plate and a set of #5 heads (cheap I couldn't pass it up) Ryan |

Had a fun night last night:-)
Visited two Olds guys in TO, picked up the console top plate and was surprised it came with the hinge, screws, bracket, everything but the base. He has two broken bases that I hope to buy to pull a Steve Segal (bond polymers) , got a set of #5 non-W31 heads they look good. Then I looked at a Mustang GT500 clone for V8TV Kevin Oeste, super nice seller (he uses his ZR1 more) Then I visited Danny T and picked up some 70 Chevelle parts:-) rear springs, a window winder and a few firewall plugs. Nice visit:-) All this during rush hour and I slipped around traffic all night:-) Ryan |

Thanks for the fun comments:-) and trafffic Plow:-)
I media blasted and cut out the "hump" today, added some primer. I also prepared a few pieces to weld in place hopefully tomorrow. Ryan |
Progress:-)
Made a small repair (not 100% done) in a tough spot. I started with a bent piece of sheet metal and added a radious and trimmed and trimmed:-) and tacked it in place. I also placed the original hump in the car but it doesn't sit down flat at all:-( the bumps in the tunnel for the straight rods of the super Shifter hold it away..... maybe it will go into inventory..... for future concourse delegance:-) Ryan |
