I can't be the only person in the world that is having these "Stupid" issues with aftermarket suppliers.........

No your not.....perhaps if you call the troubled supplier your dealing with....and tell them that you need a gallon of "Blue" windshield washer fluid for that nice new bottle....they would probably screw that up too. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

IMO, I think what you're going through with these aftermarket "snafu's" is one of the reasons (if not the main reason) why legit. NOS parts command some of the prices we see...because they FIT.

Honest mistakes happen, that's to be expected...but when mistakes like these become the norm instead of the exception, then there's a serious problem.

When i ordered my upper radiator hose...I had to cout about 4 inches off of it to fit...too!

At least the lower has a spring inside it...though I saved the spring from the one I was taking out just in case...

Ken...the car is awesome. We can wait. Take 'er easy buddy. Let's let em have it at SEMA... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Here are a couple of shots of the glass I promised. My customer ordered a rear clear glass for his 70 LS-6 which instead was delivered to me tinted. I called the supplier and they had realized right away they swapped my order for another customer's. Since I had to have it I drove 3 hours to pick it up. Get home and the glass is not even close to the right shape. It was wrapped and I checked for tinting and stamping and never thought to look at the contour. Call up and they confirm that they had a bunch of the wrongly bent glass in stock and would ship me the correct piece. A week later it arrives and guess what, same sh!t only slightly better. My only question to them was why they had defective product sitting on their shelves instead of tossing it which is exactly what I did. Worst part is they cannot get the correct piece for 2 months! It is never ending these days with some of these suppliers and worst part is they did not seem to really care.

The top glass is the OEM, the bottom two are the repops. Just slightly different contour don't you think? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif

I have gone thru other cars in the past....and have had "Issues" with the Repro parts....But "Never" like this ........(Chinese "JUNK")......the Radiator I waited 3 months for was made in the U.S. and is a work of art.....worth the wait........But the other stuff ....

I'll say it again (Chinese "JUNK")

Re: Biscayne Resto Project

------Rick,,, When you say OEM I am guessing you mean "original equipment manufacturer", not OEM Inc. out of Bloomington IL. At least I hope this is the case. I talked with Dale at OEM a short time ago and he warned me that good repro glass would be coming to a halt in the future. I guess I didnt think his statements would appear to happen this quick. Problem as he described it is the intrusion of cheap, over-seas mis-made glass as you describe actually forcing the good manufacturers out of business. Making this old glass correctly for collector cars hasnt been a profit-making endeavor for the quality companies for a long time anyway, apparently. He told me then that a couple of manufacturers of quality vintage glass had already shut down production. I and probably you have seen the proliferation of really inexpensive glass sets available on E-bay and elsewhere. This is a very bad thing for all of us...........Bill S

Re: Biscayne Resto Project

Bill,
No this is OEM as in original equipment as seen by the remnents of the sealer around the edges. The repop glass is made in "Taiwan" of all places. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif

I agree with you regarding the future of our reproduction parts. It is very sad and as I said before, I would not mind paying the price if I could just get a quality part.

Re: Biscayne Resto Project

Rick.......Is it possible that the glass was for a different body style (Hard top vs. Post).........I don't know anything about the Later Chevelles.....Just a thought..

Re: Biscayne Resto Project

Nope! Confirmed 1970 Chevelle 2 door coupe back glass. They also confirmed it to be defective as well as the rest of their inventory. From what I found out, this was not a new issue and this glass should have been put somewhere where it could not be resold.
