Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
At the DAY2 Speed Shop this F85 really piqued my interest.

This 68 Hurst Olds with the white/parchment interior was awesome:-)

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Im not sure which I like best.. the W30 or the 68 Hurst.. F85 is really cool but not my favorite body style but Day 2 makes it super cool.

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Dang it -- that black 69 is close to what I had except mine had a TH400 and white interior ... TAZ

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Pretty sure that '68 H/O is 1 of 1. '64s (post style) are among my favorites.
|
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Correct, it is a 1 of 1 H/O
Dan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
69 W30 would be my choice. The 68 H/O is not a post but it is a thing of beauty.

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Back to the grind;-)
I hope to spend a few hours Sunday cleaning my garage, preparing to swap the chassis to the igloo and the body to my place. Nothing to glamorous but nice to get rolling again. Ryan |

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Portillo's is good stuff. Geez, Ryan, you were "down the street" from me and didn't let me know :-) Although on Jan 8 we just came back from the Pure Stock xmas party and I was just getting over a cold.
Man, Joe's collection has been getting lots of coverage lately. I happened to take a "side trip" while at MCACN to see it. as for W-31's "in the news" be thankful you have a black interior. While this blue interior is nice (and I plan to stick with it) getting all the right shades of blue correct is a pita. |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Hi Chris,
Joe's collection was very fun to check out!! The Day2 Speed Shop was one of a kind, going to Nick Morocco's was like visiting family, and Portillo's was awesome, I enjoyed your neck of the woods!! Your Blue interior will be stunning, you are really going all out!! Ryan We have been celebrating some family fun stuff and this weekend is all booked up with a party, hockey, church, dance, etc..... I need to block out a weekend to get back on track!!! I also need to spend several hours a week teaching a Wee-Weaver to drive....... |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Had a great visit with Terry and chatted about cars, life, work, Mascar engine build, you name it.
His Dealership is the oldest in Ontario:-) lots of Ramblers:-) Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
What is going on? Your poor spread sheet is way behind
No rotisserie? No relocation of body? Winter Blues? Has life gotten in the way? Get back on track Next we'll be hearing 2020????? NO!!!!!! Dan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Lots of excuses, no actual progress..........
Next step is to plan a full Saturday/Sunday to switch things up. Got-r-dun Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Today is Sunday.....get out in the garage now.
Dan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I will make calls tonight to plan a blitz:-)
Thanks for the bump, I get stuck from time to time:-( Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I have a plan:-)
Feb 18th, Jamie, Terry, and I will move forward:-) Step by step instructions!! I have got stuck before and broke out of it quickly, this time I couldn't think of a way to get my body on a rotisserie at my house without damaging anything. I have bounced the idea of putting the body on the rotisserie at the igloo which would be quicker up front but still would be very difficult to get even one trip per week to work on the car. I need the body on a spit at home and I need to kick this floor pans ass!!! When I get stuck usually I would call Dad and we would chat and think up options and between the two of us (even if neither of us has any experience) decide what steps make the most sense, cost the least, post the least risk, impose the least on friends and family..... "how to get unstuck" guess I am bordering on adulthood now:-( Bummer, I loved calling my Daddy and sharing my passion. (I can do anything but anything is more fun with Ralph) I spent the time to draw pictures and make notes so I can gather all the needed items. Ryan (unstuck!) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-img_4624.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_4625.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-img_4626.jpg |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Since it's been so long....you better revisit and check whether you chased and repaired those broken body bolts before you get going.
Dan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I plan to bolt through the body mount plates at the bottom of the cowl to the skid, and fix the rest of the broken and or cut off body mount bolts on the spit.
Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
How is the car being transported back to your home?
Dan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
On RamblerDealer's tilt load truck.
Also the frame needs to go to the igloo to make room for the body at my place. Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Careful with them dollies....any uneven terrain and they like to jamb up and slip off the body.
Dan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Will do:-)

Ryan, Here is my sketch of Dan and myself helping you. We should probably be holding Molsons, since we are in Canada (for the story at least).

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I am getting ready for the body transport/chassis transport/swap.
A bit of feedback has me thinking I should use two slings at each end to prevent the body from rolling to one side. Closer and closer. A new friend from London will be joining us on Saturday, thanks Shane P:-) Ryan https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-img_4670.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-img_4671.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_4672.jpg |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Heres what my rotisserie looked like for my camaro body. There was a square tube that rtan from end to end to stabilize each end that rotated. I dont see this in your plan.
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...860-69body.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7861-body3.jpg |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Thanks Jonesy, I will check for this support when I get a look at the rotisserie.
I have seen them with the single support in the middle or one on each side. Excited now!!!! Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Ryan one thing to think about is the greater the angle of your slings or chains, the more force you are putting on your mounting points and slings or chains. These forces can be calculated.
|
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Agree, I exceeded a normal minimum angle lifting the body off, and plan to use two slings longer than the one I used to correct this.
Thanks for chiming in, I like feedback:-) Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Nov 15 2015 we purchased the car from the Stager's, I arranged a dinner to celebrate:-)
Looking forward to it :-) Ryan |
