WOW! I remember the Rat Pack cars from that show. I went in 79, 80, and 81. Those were the days! (when we all were skinny)

I have lots of incriminating hooliganism photos from beyond the statute of limitations. Maybe we should start a new thread??? ;-)

It was some crazy times. we went in 78 and 79. Took my 65 El camino and my sisters 69 roadrunner in 78 with two 69 Judges and the roadrunner in 79. Drove straight thru both times from Philly area. Remember the laps on the brickyard? Amazing memories

I was on a brief tour of the Kitty Hawk in Norfolk VA, late 50's or early 60's. At least I think it was the Kitty Hawk.

I was very young. I remember what looked like to unbelievably steep narrow stairs. Don't remember many details at all.

I've not heard that before.

Having given it some thought, I am going to say "false".

The reason I say that is that the '63 Grand Prix is a similar design, in terms of castling, plating, painting, and detail, but I suspect is a bit larger overall in size (length of part, or width of the car).

The GTO does include the "PONTIAC" lettering, which might drive the tooling costs up incrementally. Many of the Pontiacs of the day had that same theme, so, if the GTO panel was more expensive, it wouldn't be by much (within rounding error).

On the other hand, the GTO wraps around, which adds depth to the part and additional material to the tool, (which probably bumps the tooling cost but not the part piece cost) whereas the GP is flat/planar.

So - most expensive? Maybe. "One of the most" - surely. "Ever"? Probably not.

K

I remember at Indy in I think 79 (80?) getting chased back to my motel room by a German Shepard. All the cars (and trucks, and RV's) had to do a burn out to go by. Then all of a sudden they just stopped coming and then next thing was nothing but police cars coming up the street.
