If Ford was sponsering this auction, perhaps they stopped
the GM guys from entering and bidding. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif |

Mike Summers who drove the Best Photo '66 Corvette M22, L72 from Yenko Chevrolet was given the car to drive as a daily driver. It was optioned in the same colors as the Best Photo car. My friend who owns the Best Photo car, has a binder full of photos of the cars together. It does not have the original motor, but it sure is a cool example! Nice money too. |

I don't think anything is fishy this year. Chevy's are just down this year. I hate to say it but it is true.

Re: Barrett Jackson.....
The Auction focus has shifted to almost 70% Muscle cars going across the block this year and there appears to be market saturation. The investors have become cherry pickers.
When there are more cars out there then buyers the price falls on the remaining cars until new buyers step up. I agree Fords and Mopars have dominated at the auction this year. Sad. |
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Looks like they were saturated with Cudas as those prices floundered for the most part. A buddy of mine had Lot 1339- the purple and white 71 six barrel Cuda up at the end of sat night. It listed as sold for 120,000 including commision (108K before buyer fees???). I cant imagine he let it go for that and didnt buy it back.
The restored Boss 429 prices were suprising in $400K range. Once again the coverage was dismal at times. I loved it when the bozo announcer tried to explain what a double COPO was and said: "Well that means it has both front and rear spoilers in addition to the regular COPO package" OY! Or when he impugned the legitimacy of the green COPO Chevelle because "All COPOS came with a 140 mph speedometer and this one has a 120 speedo." Or when they decided to interview Edsel Ford instead of running the 78 mile Hemicuda and only cut to it at the tail end of its auction when the price ran up. They have no idea what is interesting to their viewers. Or anytime the OCC (Orange County Chopper or maybe we should now call them Officially Communications Challenged) guys would get to the mike. The dad babbled and rambled and when he ran out of things to babble he would just yell "Rock and Roll!" I thought I was watching a rerun of the mock rockumentary "This is Spinal Tap." Plus, his biceps really shrunk away. I guess he's spending too much time self promoting and not working out anymore. The only one who wins this year is Craig Jackson: Since everyone saw how low the prices were (whether the cars actually sold or were bought back) more people will probably show up with cash next year thinking they can find a fire-sale bargain. I think this auction will mark the exodus of the real quality, pedigreed cars to the competition's reserve auctions. |

L88, does anybody know this car? Were there some flaws, or was it bogus, 240 and very lackluster bidding raises a question in my mind. [/ QUOTE ] Steve, that L88 while advertised to have its OM did not have its original stamp. The bidding was real and TM was on the car at 230K My take on the auction is that the market is becoming more selective and educated and will not open a blank checkbook for a car with issues. While I cannot speak for the e bodied mopars which seemed to down 50% vs last year I can speak for the 67 435 models and the L88 Corvettes. Prices for the 67s were down 20% vs last year but there was not one 435 car that I saw that had its original motor so while prices to the casual observer seem to be lower I believe that it is a reflection of the quality of cars that were present. I know of several recent sales of great 435s and three 69Lss that sold for huge$$$ so I believe that great cars are still selling for big money and will always bring big money. Also I think if the folks at BJ keep raising their commission rates and offer no reserve only auctions that the quality of their consignments will continue to plummett. IMHO |

Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Enjoyed watching. Obviously it works, very popular and Speed devotes alot of air time to it. Just a money making machine at this point and it just keeps steamrolling ahead. Like Bob said this is just a sampling of cars and if the quality is down so will be the prices. Didn't see a whole lot of cars I had to have.
Bruce, I want to thank you for all the pictures. It takes an enormous amount of time and the site is better because of you. Thank You Bruce. |

i wonder if people still think the black raiv judge that sold on ebay for 490k was a real transaction? the white ram air iv judge sold for 117k plus craigs take, looked like a nice car. the pontiacs are down in price a little also, i think it will be a positive, and bring more buyers to the plate. i am going to be looking for an ls6 panic sale,LOL "but if anybody here is in panic PM me"

Re: Barrett Jackson.....
if your in it for investment sell your copo or 67 z28 and buy a shelby or mopar there kicking chevys butt as far as price and demand the camaro sales this week were a joke no big money I guess its because so many crooks have made clones and fake trim tags with false docs and even the real cars cant prove much anymore I think a lot of this is because of how some of you that think you are experts and are ceartinally not knock cars like you did my l78 when actually you have no clue everyone thinks they can pick apart a car because a hose is not the right color or a bolt dosent have paint on or the paper for pop looks too white (that one kills me)it etc maby one of these days you will learn to say nice car wish it was in my garauge and maby the prices will go up instead of down!!

Whoever bought the OCC cars with the bike included got a whale of a deal. The cost of the bike fabrication was more than what the car sold for! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif
If the bike were to sell at a motorcycle only auction, there could be no way that it would sell for than less $100K. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif As far as keeping the bike and car as a set, it's obvious to me, IMHO, that the bidders were going for the car, not the set. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif The Walrus got torn up by the Sharks. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif |

Was anybody else offended by the conduct of the bidder assistants?
What I find obnoxious is that they get right in the bidders faces and put a hand on their leg or arm around them. Totally innapropriate contact. I saw the skinny "screamer" guy grab the inner thigh of one bidder in his chair. My wife saw that on TV and looked at me and said: "Did he just do what I think he did?" Yup. If he did that to me I'd make one hell of scene. How about the older male assistant that kept grabbing the 6 year old son of a major bidder and kept hugging him and holding up for the crowd. Very creepy! Re: Barrett Jackson.....
The question of the quality of the cars that were going across the block is a valid one. People will always pay a premium for quality that is REAL. Maybe we are seeing an educated buyer......
It's funny but when you factor in the buyers and sellers commission that BJ gets along with any other add ons that may occur and add them all together, are the total prices paid that far off from what we see as the current market value on some of these rides? |
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
There definitely seemed to be some over hyping on the Ford cars. The Chevy's were obviously down(other than the pair of crossram Z28's for $240K!), the Mopars were down and the Fords were bringing crazy numbers. That's why I try not to let the BJ auction act as an indicator for values, because they force the no reserve if you want it on the block, they pick which cars to spend more time on, and it's an auction where people can bid on their own car(most auctions seem to allow this as well)! But sitting here at home we have no idea as to the quality of the cars and restorations and if they are truly #'s matching with legit documents. Sounds like a lot bs is going on with the GM stuff and that scares people from bidding. And we all know BJ doesn't stand behind the cars so if you got suckered, it's your own fault! But it makes for entertainment I guess. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Well All I can say Is Crag Jackson end up the BIG loser last night and if not for the guy that paid 5 million dollars for a cobra that had issues the night would have been a bust
I will also not disuse what problem that were with the 5 million dollar car. I know It is here say After last Night tv showing I was talking to some one that was there and all I can say is the sh** hit the fan I will not replete what was told to me because there are people on this site will say it is here say and is it a fact but There must have been others there that saw the same thing a lot of behind the seen arguments All I can say there was a lot of problems and I would bet next year the reserve car bidding will be back. That is if Crag Jackson still wants to make a profit And last every one I talked to wanted to know who the old guy with the kids all over him was It looked like he did not know what the heck he was doing or cared on what he was bidding on As fair as I am concern the whole thing was one big mess and smelled A lot of people lost big money |

Maybe the "subliminal advertising "
with all the Ford banners ..."in the roof" ...had an affect on the bidder's ... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif ... ..What was the quality of the cars over at Russo Steele Auction....I think that had something to do with some of those prices.... ...great cars with documentation and the right color will always be in demand ...I think they could vary their commercials thru the event ...that was torture https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif |

is there some GM sour grapes over fords increased values??
|
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Looks to me like the Ford conspiracy went down the tubes when Ford's USA pres. threw in '07 Shelby VIN #2 at MSRP and the bid did not go up one penny! Or maybe the $600k was a "staged" price.
It would be interesting to know what "really" goes on behind the scenes a BJ. Craig comes across as a first class shyster and his side-kick and those sunglasses??? WTF Mr. Hollywood, has it dawned on you that you are the only person in the whole FN place wearing sunglasses INDOORS??!!! These guys are making the whole game look a little shady. |

I won't begin to stick up for shady characters or anyone with a good poker face, but sadly I have an eye disease that requires me to wear dark prescription glasses outdoors always and inside brightly lit stores, supermarkets etc. I've heard mumblings of crap like "what are you a F#$(&^g movie star or something" to "why dont you take off your shades so you can see what you're doing". The sad thing is, is that I can't see what I'm doing without them. I even have to where them while watching TV during the day.
