Darn, Gary ... well plenty to chat about beyond "how was your day?" after that sort of moratorium, right? Sharp Z, btw!

Re: Tenney's 64 Wangers GTO...
That was my first muscle car. I can still see it fresh in my mind even to this day. Some say you never forget your first love. Last time I was in Atlanta I went to look for the guy I bought it from in my high school and his mom said he was murdered. She didn't go into details.

And we have Hallmark moment #2. Back to the car: hard to beat a 64 GTO. Didn't one of the car mags have one that had a transplanted 421 SD? Forgive my Pontiac ignorance, but are the 389 and 421 pretty much the same externally? |

This one had a 421 HO installed in engineering and Bobcatted at Royal for the Car and Driver test. Yes, 389 and 421 are dimensionally the same (likewise other Pontiac V-8's - no "big blocks"). |

Thanks, Charley - MCACN was the final "50th" event; and the proper encore!
Same, Bruce. Had to hightail it early Sunday as the Kid had to be back in class Monday AM. Next time!! Here's one from Carlisle I came across on the Hot Rod site featuring one of the fathers of the GTO, Bill Collins ... |

Tenney signed up here 12/31/2001

Re: Tenney's 64 Wangers GTO...
Got to see it at Carlisle this year. Saw it race at Maple Grove once at an all Pontiac event after our 64 Convertible was finished. Also talked to an original owner of a 64 Convertible from Ohio. It was a nice event for Carlisle.

Looks like a great event! Had to sit this one out, unfortunately, though Scott kindly brought the car over to share. Cool you got to see it run ...! |

Re: Tenney's 64 Wangers GTO...
It's a really cool presentation, Bruce. Jim was tasked by Pontiac with selecting a dealership that would serve as an outlet for special hi-perf. cars, parts and technologies - kind of a precursor to Yenko, Berger, Nickey, Mr. Norms, etc. - and he filled us in on why Royal was chosen - shared some cool first-hand stories about how things went along the way - and then how and why it went away. Glad to have had the chance to attend that one!

Hope so, Bruce, that'd be cool. Was told the museum taped the audio and are going to build a podcast with Jim's PowerPoint presentation. Will report back w/that if I come across it. Here's one from the 50th at the same spot last year - projector threw a rod, but JW winged it like a champ ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKz32o63AVg |

Looks a little taller and rounder, though maybe due to reflection in the hood? Not much of a shadow under the '68, either ...

Agree - appears to be "floating" a little bit. Man!! Mr Wangers looks great! Perhaps lost a little weight? In any case I can only hope to be as sharp at 89 years of age. K Mid 1980's: [img}http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b369/hotrod001/img037_zpscji91csj.jpg[/img] |

Cool Royal/Motion combo - definition of "hybrid" circa '67?!
