Fencl-Bogan vs. Dick Fencl

In 1961 the dealership was still known as Fencl-Bogan Chevrolet. Based on all the ads I am seeing it was not until late 1962 that Dick bought out Bogan and changed the Dealership name to Dick Fencl Chevrolet at the same address.

1st ad late 1961:
2nd ad late 1962:

That's amazing...so you worked there in the summer of 68? Any chance you remember a 427/435 1968 Corvette Convertible, probably delivered in late June? British racing green, black interior, black vinyl hardtop and white soft top, 4 spd, 4:11, red lines, F41, N11 and, oddly enough, power widows?

I know it's a long shot...anyone else around that you think might remember the car? Looking for ownership history prior to 1996 when its sold by Holt Motors, a collector car dealership in MI. At that time a tired hot rod with flared fenders, lexan headlights, Crager SSTs, etc...

Sorry, I don't remember your car. There were so many Corvettes and Camaro's at Fencl-Tufo.

Thanks anyway...

What year did it become Fencl-Tufo?

I thought in 68 it was just Fencl?

And what was location in 68?

fsc66 06-27-2017 01:59 PM

Fencl

Based on Ads, does first show in 1968. See below 69 ad for address info:

I only see one red deuce going to F/T on the list, although the list isn't complete. Were there more? If not, that deuce was in my area until recently. Sold new by Mr. Ed.

I've had this for awhile. I'm thinking late 60's early 70s.

A very nice couple....very classy. I knew Ed through out the years when he owned Crossroads Chev in West Chicago. I met Judy when he invited my wife and myself to see his cars in a storage area in I believe it was Elk Grove. What a line up of cars. He had the building set up very nicely and I believe his memorabilia was worth as much as his cars. Beautiful couple....I wish they were still around.

----Ed and Judy,,,Two of the nicest, classiest people I've ever known. Bought several cars from him and was always treated really well, and after I ended up in Michigan I used to see him every year at the Concours. One thing I regret was never taking him up on visiting them in Florida. Ed left us far too soon. RIP Mister Ed....Bill S

Nicest couple I ever met. He had mentioned to me some of the cars that he had in Florida. Makes the cars that he had in the Chicago area seem small in comparison. In Elk Grove, he had a fantastic Lionel train set upstairs from his car collection. Judy also had a room set up for her collections too. Great people!!!!!
Ed was very honest. You could trust and believe every word he said. Because of my trust in him and how he was, I trusted other sellers and bought some very nice cars online sight unseen and never got burnt. That was until I bought a car from a total jerk in Canada....which taught me an expensive lesson. I wish all car guys were as honest as Ed.

Hey, that's me in the yellow shirt and my little guy, (little at the time) in the red shirt. This pic has to be around 2006-ish or so. Ed invited a few members from my Camaro Club to come see his cars and model trains. He was such a nice and gracious guy. I'm almost positive this was in Downers Grove. Sad to hear he 's left us.

Yes, that was his Museum in Downers Grove. I believe he invited the Illinois Camaro Club.

The former Weather-Tech headquarters were right across the Street.

Wow...it's a small world. Yes, Ed invited my wife and I to see his cars. He said that a Camaro club was going to be there. There were quite a few people there. I found a couple more pictures of you and your son...but not as good as the previous. Looking at the properties of the pics I believe these were taken in 2009.

It sure is a small world, especially in the car hobby. Thanks for the added pics!
