That wad of "dum-dum" where the tail panel meets the quarter caught my eye in those photos. Had never seen nor hear of such a thing. Is it known to be present on other survivors? It was obviously applied after paint and looks like it would do a great job of holding water right where you wouldn't want it?

Never saw that before either. But, it is the Professor's car so we can learn things that we never thought we could!

It might've been a walk by now that I think about it. Heck, I've slept since then. Guy might've said that's Bruce. You always seemed to be the center of attention when we saw you. We'll meet hopefully soon. We only live about 100 miles apart...Joe

Xplantdad 08-09-2020 05:06 PM

We'll make it happen! Benny's got some cool pics to post once he's done racing today....:beers:

----Great car, Benny! Loved looking at it at MCACN. Just love that blue gut! Wonder who the 1st person will be to try to duplicate that glue spray pattern in their door jamb?........Bill S

Salvatore 08-11-2020 02:31 AM

Nice pic's Prof.

NorCam 08-12-2020 12:28 PM

Funny to see that glue in the door jamb. You would think if the trim guys missed cleaning the glue at the factory, that the dealers would have caught it during the PDI.

Very cool pictures that tell the true tales. Thanks Benny

Salvatore 08-12-2020 02:24 PM

In 1971 my dad bought a new 71 SS El Camino. When you opened the tail gate there was alot of glue and also dum dum. he took it back and asked the warranty Rep if they would do anything about that mess in the tailgate area. The Rep asked "can you see it with the tail gate closed" and of course the answer was NO so it stayed. Did not care much in those days.

Pro Stock John 01-23-2021 08:33 PM

Cool car, did the original owner end up drag racing it?

He took it down the track, only a few times. Completly stock setup. He lives 10 minutes from Lebanon Valley dragstrip. BBBenny:3gears:

That's a lot of rust but I find the photos pretty cool.

bbbenny 01-26-2021 11:44 AM

rust

Lee, To reply about the rust. If you would see where the car was stored. You would be shocked. The building looked abandoned. BBBenny:scholar:

Pretty much surface rust Calix. NO real rust issues of any kind other than what you see. A gallon of WD-40 and a couple clean rags will take care of pretty much all the surface rust you see. Car is a time capsule and complete with all the history. Tuff to beat.

69 Camaro

Just touching base again on this unique Camaro...met the OO many years ago, he visited my shop, we talked "L78" for a couple of hours. Happy to see these cars still command attention...hopefully they always will.
