Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
I was up at Martin yesterday for the FAST and Factory Stock race. Most of the cars there were one's I had seen previously, but it was still a good time.
C. Lambardi's 63 Impala SS is an unrestored low mile original 425 horse car. He has the original engine tucked away safely at home. I've seen this car run high 12's, but he was stuck in the low 13's yesterday. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-dscn0666.jpg T. Ragla's 69 Nova SS is an original L78 4 speed car that was built by Jimmy Johnson a number of years ago. It has aluminum heads on it now and runs mid 12's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-dscn0615.jpg J. Lerum's 70 Chevelle SS is an original LS6 4 speed car built at the Arlington TX plant that he has owned for a number of years. This car normally runs in the 12.20's to 12.30's. This is one of my favorite Factory Stock cars and he was kind enough to let me take some photos of it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-dscn0684.jpg P. Richards' 68 Camaro SS is an original L78 car that he has recently added Aluminum heads to. This is normally a mid 12 second car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-dscn0653.jpg R. Hammer's 71 GTO is an original 455 HO car with an automatic and runs in the 12's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-dscn0623.jpg M. DiMonte's 72 Trans Am is a 4 speed car that runs high 12's and low 13's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-dscn0633.jpg J. Keyes' 67 Hemi Coronet R/T with a TorqueFlite was running mid 11's. Unfortunately, he was matched up against one of the L88 Corvettes in the Factory Stock Quick 8 Shoot Out. He is the original owner of this low mileage car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-dscn0657.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-dscn0639.jpg R. Mahoney's 68 Hemi Super Bee with a TorqueFlite was also running deep into the 11's, but was also taken out by one of the L88 Corvettes. D. Dudeck was driving it on race day. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-dscn0658.jpg J. Bowman's 69 A12 Super Bee is a 4 speed car and was running high 12's and low 13's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-dscn0636.jpg S. McKenzie's 69 A12 Road Runner with a TorqueFlite was running high 11's and low 12's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-dscn0656.jpg There were a few Modern Muscle cars present as well and T. Pennington's 10 ZL-1 Corvette was the fastest of the bunch. His son was driving it and he clicked off a few mid 9 second passes. The fastest pass I saw was a 9.42. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-dscn0635.jpg |
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
9.42? Whew, that's hauling.

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
What kind of mods were done to the ZR-1? 9.42 is flyin!!! I've had the itch to mod my V wagon. I would be happy at 10.99!

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Since Terry was running the event he was pretty busy and I didn't get a chance to talk to him about the car. I can tell you that it was an automatic car with headers, possibly an aftermarket exhaust, an aftermarket intercooler and maybe an aftermarket air induction system. I'm not sure what else was done to it. It was also racing on drag radials. The kid can drive so I doubt if he had the traction control on. I've seen him run 8.60's on a marginal track with their COPO so it's not like he doesn't know what he's doing.
|
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Overheard him talking with someone. He said it had head work, cam, different blower pulleys, along with a updated computer program. It was going through the traps in third gear (out of six) at 146 to 147 mph. The 9.42 wasn't a fluke either. It ran a 9.42 on Friday when it was cooler, and then another 9.42 on Saturday.
For what it's worth, that thing is running on out-of-the-pump E85 too. |

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Known as the Fuller car, this 10K mile unrestored 70 Chevelle SS convertible has an LS6 with a TH400 and 4.10 gears. It's a highly documented LA built car that was sold new at McElevey Motors in Clinton IA. It was featured in the December 1987 issue of Muscle Car Review. It was a part of the Christenholz collection and sold for $500K.
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_0218.jpg This 70 Chevelle SS convertible has an LS6 with an M22 and is also a highly documented car from the Christenholz collection. I believe this is the only documented Black Cherry LS6 convertible. It sold for $280K. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_0222.jpg This 70 Chevelle SS LS6 with a TH400 was advertised as a numbers matching car that was documented with a build sheet. I believe this car was restored by Chris White. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...lle_ss_ls6.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_0108.jpg This 70 Chevelle SS LS6 with an M22 was sold new at Ronald Rice Chevrolet in Abilene KS. It was advertised as a numbers matching car that was documented with a POP and built sheet. It sold for $78K. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-img_0115.jpg This 70 Chevelle SS LS6 with a TH400 has been talked about on this site numerous times. It was sold new at Krumpholz in West Chicago IL and has just under 5K miles. It is a mostly unrestored car that was at least partially repainted in the 80's due to an accident. It was advertised as a numbers matching and documented car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...evelle_ls6.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-img_0148.jpg This 02A Van Nuys built 69 Camaro was advertised as a Z/28 with an original DZ engine and a JL8 rearend. I believe it is too early to be a factory JL8 car and there was no mention of any documentation that the car was an original Z/28. It sold for $70K. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-img_0116.jpg This 69 Z/28 RS was advertised as a numbers matching car with a JL8 rearend as well. This car was bid to $78K. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-img_0132.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...1-img_0131.jpg This 69 Z/28 was advertised as a numbers matching car that was documented with a POP and window sticker. It was bid to $95K. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-img_0173.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-img_0174.jpg This 69 Z/28 was advertised as a numbers matching car with chambered exhaust and a JL8 rearend. I have the VIN as N693672 which would make it a September of 69 built car and therefore too late to have come from the factory with the chambered exhaust system or the JL8 rearend. I also believe the stripes should be white and not black since it doesn't have a black vinyl top. It was bid to $70K. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8_xram_jl8.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-img_0196.jpg This 69 Camaro SS was advertised as an original L89 car with a date code correct engine. It sold for $79K. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...camaro_l89.jpg |

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Here are a few pictures I took at our local cruise in on Thursday night. There were about 450 cars there. Most of the cars were ones I'd seen before so I didn't take a lot of pictures.
Very clean 67 Chevelle SS L34 with a 4 speed. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-dscn0698.jpg Brand new Z06 Corvette. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...4-dscn0699.jpg I've posted pictures of B. Goldstone's 70 Chevelle before, but it's one of the coolest cars around here so I thought I would show you guys some more. There aren't a lot of 7 second street cars as clean and streetable as this. Note his plate says YOULUZ 2. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-dscn0696.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-dscn0695.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-dscn0693.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-dscn0701.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-dscn0700.jpg |

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
The '66 Olds looks pretty good; hard to say just how many dealer or owner converted cars exist (that are genuine vintage conversions). I don't think they are quite like "69 Z/28s or '70 LS-6 Chevelles, but without bullet-proof docs it is virtually impossible to differentiate an "old" build that is restored, or a current build with correct components. Either way, that car looks like it is worth the "ching-ching"!
I remember in 1969 a little Oldsmobile dealership that had recently changed owners "lured" my dad away from Anderson to be a GSM for this up-and-coming new-kid-on-the-block. His demo requirement was a '69 Hurst/Olds......he only stayed there a short time and went back to Anderson and hopped in a black '69 W-31 hardtop with red bucket seats and stripes and 4-speed. Funny what you remember, especially stuff from that long ago. |

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
Here are some photos from this past weekends Goodguys show in Columbus OH.
F. Arone brought this freshly restored 69 Z/28 to the show. This is the car that was purchased new by Philips Petroleum. The NCRS paperwork shows this car was delivered new to Tom Naquin Chevrolet in Elkhart IN which is my hometown Chevrolet dealer. This is an original drivetrain car that was mostly complete and took about 8 months to restore. It was one of the nicest cars at the show. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...5-dscn0830.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-dscn0784.jpg J. Adkins brought this beautiful 69 Z/28 to the show. According to the show board this was also a numbers matching car with an M21 trans and 3.73 rearend. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-dscn0826.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...8-dscn0777.jpg This is K. Laris and has a 572 putting out over 600 horsepower and is backed by a 4L60. It sits on an Art Morrison chassis and had a great smelling leather interior. Caldwell and is LS powered. This is undoubtedly one of the nicest 66-67 Chevy II's I have ever seen. The car was absolutely gorgeous and sounded nasty. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-dscn0909.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-dscn0898.jpg This 68 C10 owned by M. Hey Myron,
Thank You for sharing so many wonderful photos. Do you have any photos of AMC cars or AMX's. If you do please share them. |
Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
I only have a dozen or so photos of AMC's. I think I've posted most of them already in this thread. You don't see many around.

Re: Musclecar Photographs mrays
That '56 Convertible and the silver '32 just stand out to me for some reason, beautiful cars.
One side note, and not to insult any of the beautiful cars, but to me at least, every one of them is starting to look alike. All clean, one color (mostly) with ginormous rear tires and wheels, but kind of boring looking. Just my opinion. |
