Damien, I would go with the Firestone 670-15 black wall bias ply tires for the front. Coker has them. I have them on some day 2 wheels. I like them. Here is a pic of them. They have the pie crust edges... Very cool look.

I got a set of the Firestone tires from Rusty Small. He's a sponsor on this sight. I like the way they look.

Cheers Rich. That's the look that I'm going for.

Thanks Freddie. I'll check them out.

Damien, the 6.70x15 might look a little small on a Chevelle. You might want to go with a 7.10x15 if you do go that route. Here’s my Moroso Drag Special tires that are 7.10.....and they don’t rub anywhere.

Kurt

big gear head 05-28-2021 11:51 AM

Yeah, mine are 7.10. They look a lot better than the Pro Tracs that I had on it before, which were just too short.

I should have went straight to the master first, Kurt!
What is your current rear wheel and tyre combo bud?

The same.....I did purchase some aluminum slots.....just to mix it up a little. Now I’m waiting on the right tire combination.

Kurt :beers:

Damien here is Phil Woj's COPO wearing the 670-15 tires up front. I think they fit the wheel well good.... We took the car to MCACN with this wheel and tire combo for display..

Phil`s COPO is among my all time Favorites (plus she could not be in better hands)....thanks for sharing Rich, what a great picture :)

Cheers Rich. They do fit well.
Phil's cars alway look first class!

NorCam 01-24-2022 11:32 AM

I have to agree...Phil's Copo Chevelle does look killer with that wheel and tire combo on it. I saw it at MCACN a couple years ago and it looked sweet.

So what tires did you end up going with on your Chevelle Damien? Any updates?

No updates Graeme unfortunately.
Not much has been happening on the car scene here during covid so I have been keeping myself busy with some vmx dirt bike resto stuff in the meantime.

NorCam 01-27-2022 02:27 PM

Nothing wrong with that. Looks like fun.

Is that an RM250 there? What's the red one..a YZ?

Crush 01-27-2022 03:14 PM

Man I remember those RM’s, had a TS 100 the wimpy brother to the RM! I thought YZ were yellow? Maybe a Honda?
Cool stuff

Hi all.
I haven't been around much lately but I'm pleased to say that the world is moving on after the spicy cough debacle and Spring has sprung Down Under so the Chevelle came out of the garage for the first time in a long time, last weekend!
Hopefully those on here that are in Florida can stay safe!

Hi gang.
I hope everyone is well and enjoying your summer!
I've been lurking but not posting much as there hasn't been a lot for me to report on.
Had some fuel delivery dilemmas recently with the fuel pick up looking like it had been mud bashing. I guess it's the result of the rubbish gas we have in Australia and a repro tank that is coming up on 17-18 years of age.
Replaced the sender with a new one I had picked up on one of my visits to your fine country, seemed to be working on the bench but installed it in the tank and it now reads empty with power to it and correct when the ignition is turned off. Anyhoo, I hope everybody enjoys the 4th celebrations.
Cheers.

Cool stuff

You are correct, in the US the YZ was yellow but in Australia and Europe they were white.

Wow, that old sending unit looks terrible! If that's the OEM piece, do yourself a favor and send it off to John Wolf & Co. in Willoughby, Ohio...

https://antiqueinstrument.com/

They have done two for me in recent years and I have been completely satisfied with their work.

Cheers Bill, I'll have a closer look. The funny part is that as crusty as it is, it still works fine which leads me to think that it may be a factory part.

Still chasing my intermittent stalling issue so i have decided to remove all of the basically brand new Pertronix Flame Thrower ignition and replace it with a Delco distributor and a new Blaster 3 coil. The Delco unit has an 1181 Pertronix module fitted. The strange part is I've had everything tested and all came up good but I'm wondering whether, under load, the module was getting hot?
Anyway, wish me luck! Lol.

Hey Damien, I wanted to let you know here as well but your email has been hacked. If anyone gets an email from Damien and it is not from [email protected] don't open it.

JRC99 02-04-2024 12:29 AM

Seems like a lot of guys run into issues with the PerTronix stuff. Not sure why, I've never run their stuff.

EDIT: D'oh! Didn't realize how old that last post was and barely read the one above me. A real genius, I am.
