While I think it looks bitchin in race trim just like everyone else I also see nobody stepping up to pay great money for the Vitar car and others that are back to race trim. They were the hot item for awhile but now they seem to have cooled off. Just something worth thinking about.

Re: Brents 1969 Hugger Orange Copo Found ?

you cant go wrong with showroom stock IMHO. race trim is a limited market, as much as i love it, that dynamotion paint job is awesome. my z-28 came from the same dealership as the vitar car. H.M. Williams Co.

Re: Brents 1969 Hugger Orange Copo Found ?

A lot would depend on whether you are building it for resale or for your collection. With this car it is a part of it's history especially considering how little it lived in stock form. Tough decision either way.

Re: Brents 1969 Hugger Orange Copo Found ?

Put it back stock, and then duplicate the shoe polish lettering. Now that would be cool!

A tubbed car is always harder to sell vs. one that has it's stock rear. That's why it's better to put it back to the way it was before it was cut up. IMO

Thread of the year I'd restore it just like this. </div></div> Untubed and just like this. Why showroom stock when it does not have its original drive train. It will always be a non-numbers race car IMO. Way more credibility like this than a boring non matching lawn ornament.

You can always do a vehicle wrap or removable decals as well...with the largest wheel tire combo that will fit...

I would love to see the 6 cylinder front coils and the old Lakewood slapper bars with the shackle kit and Cragars. Tach, oil and temp gauge with a fuel gauge mounted on the cowl outside. Hurst flower decals, the lace or swirl paint and the T-3's painted an amber or blue color. Don't need a roll bar, fuel cell or trunk mounted battery for this deal. 10&quot; M+H slicks. YEAAAA!

Now you're talkin!!!!! Not everyone has the advantage that you do to have these early, back-in-day photos documenting exactly how your Camaro was run. Charley's comment is worth heeding if you are planning a quick sale (he knows this market).

Your car's look is spot on as the way these cars looked back then!

Re: Brents 1969 Hugger Orange Copo Found ?

Don't really have to paint the name back on the side just the graphics and mod type paint job would look great I think! remember the Vitar car and Herbie's Hugger were tubbed with a narrowed rear.

Re: Brents 1969 Hugger Orange Copo Found ?

VERY VERY COOL!!! Actually, I think I remember the car as a bracket racer in it's Burgundy and &quot;ELECTRIC&quot; '80s stripe.
On a second note, I also own a car that raced as a brand new car. My car was raced and sponsored by a new Oldsmobile dealership and then sold off of their used car lot in February 1971. While my car was not a life-long dedicated racecar like yours, it did lead a very sheltered life with only about 10k street miles. I have it re-lettered and set up as the &quot;1969-1970&quot; style F/S---basically the car is original and un-restored. It was just the cover and feature car of the Feb.2012 Muscle Car Review. What I'm getting at here is this:
If your intentions are to sell the car as a profit-maker, then in my opinion, a showroom-stock restoration might make more sense. However, if you are like me (and a lot of other old racers) and the car is more of a passion, and the money REALLY doesn't matter, then I would applaud you for making that car appear (and maybe even run) as it did in 1969 and 1970. True, racecars have a smaller market, but the players in that arena are a little different breed.

Re: Brents 1969 Hugger Orange Copo Found ?

I went back and looked at some of those old pics. How about the guy pouring water at Capitol? Defintely a No-No today. And old-time Cecil County. Looks like that front end was set up a &quot;little loose&quot;--wonder if they had the front wheels staggered? That was a trick from that era---probably a Jack Arnew front suspension.
GREAT FIND!!!!!!!!!!!! Bring it to York in July---I can assure you someone there will know that car. Have you had Jerry MacNeish look at it, or have you called him yet? And maybe you said already, but where was that car sold? Ourisman Chevrolet?

Salvatore 03-05-2012 03:47 PM

Re: Brents 1969 Hugger Orange Copo Found ?

Jack Arnew, staggered front wheels.....you are going back! Welcome aboard.

Thanks Guys for the good words said from everyone .In todays market how bad would it hurt it puting it in Dynamotion trim detub for sure .

Re: Brents 1969 Hugger Orange Copo Found ?

You can get great &quot;stick on&quot; signage that wouldn't hurt the HO paint. Bolt on/stick on stuff won't hurt the value &amp; it would look super!

Re: Brents 1969 Hugger Orange Copo Found ?

^^^^^What Bergy said. Plus, the car has been raced it's whole life....that's the way it should be put back to. Just as Sammy stated, you don't have the original drivetrain anyway. Detub the car and go for it Brent!

Re: Brents 1969 Hugger Orange Copo Found ?

I think Brent knows what to do! He is usually trying to talk other owners out of restoring a &quot;real&quot; racecar back to showroom. If he has to chnage the paint job back to original sometime down the road Brent can handle that himself. Done deal for him IMO it will be as a racecar I bet! Maybe set us like a 1969 A/Stocker. BRENT,BRENT,BRENT,BRENT YEAAA!

Not that my opinion counts, but I dig it like this the best. Still retains it's mostly original look, yet has one of it's first racing looks and decals. And the decals could be easily removable, as well as the slicks, etc....

Unreal 03-28-2012 03:01 AM

Re: Brents 1969 Hugger Orange Copo Found ?

I'm with you, but I think the lettering is shoe polish. To me, that reeks of low budget racing. I would either do it in shoe polish, or have decals made to replicate shoe polish.
