Outstanding looking Ken..when it's all said & done, how many hours will/did this take? [/ QUOTE ] Don't know for sure but probably in the 1500 hour range (not counting body or paint)......But......If I would have done this at home you could easily double the hours.... Ken, is it going to make the wis. dells show in may? Roger [/ QUOTE ] Roger.....It's gonna be close....I going to the upholstry shop this afternoon to pick out the material and get it ordered, the car is going on thursday to get the front end aligned, Friday for the A.C. system, and next Monday to the Upholstry shop.......Depends how long it stays there........I would like to take it to the Dells for a trial run before the Power Tour.....Don't want to be like Charley and as the last lug nut is tightened, the key is being turned in the ignition for the start of the trip.......LOL Ken https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif |

Re: 37 Ford LS2 Continuation thread
Interesting day today......Since I had the doors at home for safe keeping, I can only bring one at a time safely in the back of the pick-up.....got the first one down and installed today.......Making "Progress"...
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01753.jpg Remounted the Optima battery and installed a shut off switch for the Battery to make life easier.....then Dave got the Partstrain Interface Module installed today and after a little head scratching and dinking around, we jacked the rear tires off the ground and started the car to see if the GTO gauge module would work...... Look at the module.....Tach works, speedo works, fuel gauge works.....but the Temp gauge didn't and we got some errors in the display http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01746.jpg Dave is going to get together with John at Speartech to try and resolve these issues.......But......We are moving foward very quickly..... As we were checking the speedo (gonna have to recalibrate it) we noticed that the rear wheels were slightly wobbling.....Hummm!!! Lugnuts were tight.......Pulled the wheels off and everything looked O.K.......Put a Dial indicator on the Rotors and noticed that there was a lot of runout....Hummm!!!.....pulled the rotor off and couldn't see anything....put it back on and tighten it up and it still had runout.....Humm!!!......After checking again I noticed that there was a shiney spot on the chamfer on the rotor I.D. where it mounted against the axle flange........Determined that the chamfer from the factory was not large enough to clear the diameter on the axle flange that originally located the brake drum.......Being a "Spoiled Brat"....I just happened to have a lathe 10' away and machined it larger and reassembled everything ....Runout.....Gone...... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01752.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01751.jpg Tomorrow I will get the other door installed and work on installing door hardware while Dave works on resolving the small issues with the gauge module......... |

Re: 37 Ford LS2 Continuation thread
Ken
I am loving this build, now I know you would not need to do this but.........it would be worth the look on the face of a GM dealer if you rolled these beast in for "service". Just tell them its a GTO. Paul |
Re: 37 Ford LS2 Continuation thread
If anyone can help out resolving some issues, it would be greatly appreciated........With the GTO Gauge module plugged in, we have Tachometer and Speedometer functions.......the fuel gauge raises from the power off position to the "E" level......I only put a couple of gallons in the tank so it might be correct.....I will add some more fuel tomorrow to see if the needle rises.......with that said.....after the ECM go's thru the start up diagnostics.....we get a fuel level gauge error.....also the Temp gauge doesn't work and the ECM won't turn the cooling fan on......any input would be appreciated......
Now, for today's progress.....Got the drivers door installed....got most of the hardware installed in both doors..... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01760.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01761.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01764.jpg Also got the Gas Door and fill tube installed......... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01770.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01768.jpg Dave got the A.C. controls temporarily installed so when the car go's in for A.C. system charging on friday it will be functional...... So.....the schedule........Thursday afternoon...Front end alignment......Friday morning....A.C. charging.......Sat and Sunday......I need to get as much as possible finished.....Monday......Going to the Upholstry shop............. Re: 37 Ford LS2 Continuation thread
Got the door glass installed today.....one of the reasons I didn't put power windows in is that these cars had a neat feature where the window slides back as you start to roll it down and you get a mini vent window.........Decided to keep that feature
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01816.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01817.jpg "And" more importantly we got the gauge module functioning......Speedo, Tach, Temp Gauge, Fuel Gauge, Gear position Indicator.........Cool!! http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01820.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01822.jpg Ken |

Re: 37 Ford LS2 Continuation thread
There's been a couple of days delay in getting into the Upholstry shop, but in the mean time I have a couple of loose ends to catch up on......I have to finish the dash and deal with the rear quarter window seal issues.......anyhow here are some pic's of a empty shop...Kind of funny walking in with the car and my mess gone...........LOL

Re: 37 Ford LS2 Continuation thread
Probably gonna go thru the 66 Chevelle convert next year.....But, if I was smart, I would sell it as it is a great high end driver to someone, and after a resto I would probably not be so inclined to just jump in it and go somewhere........Torn between going thru it or just leaving it alone with it's couple of minor paint flaws.........
Opinions............ http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...DSC00063-1.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...DSC00062-1.jpg Ken |

Ken,
You have to have atleast one driver in the stable.... my vote is leave it as is. Dennis, is correct.... But we all know how you are with cars. If it ain't 'just right', it's gotta be fixed. Dan |
