Re: Dave's New COPO
Dave, those car show indoor photos are definately at the old Cleveland Convention Center which is still standing in Downtown Cleveland on Lakeside Rd. and until just a few years ago housed the Cleveland Auto Rama every year in January. Now the show has moved to the IX Center and is in March...
The photos are way cool!! All I can say is WOW!! It's funny to see how small Norwalk looked back then as compared to what it is today!! Gotta love that Parma neighborhood shot also!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Rich https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...-I-Have-It.gif |

Re: Dave's New COPO
No go on the videos. I sent you an email. They have to be one of the file extensions that I sent to you via email...or, they can even be .mpeg as well https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

Re: Dave's New COPO
The indoor shot was most likely the show run by the Choppers club. I believe they were the first to run what was later to become the Cleveland Auto-Rama in the old convention center.Cool!

I plan to start on "The Ratical One" very soon though. |

Here is a few pics of one of my other cars , you racers might enjoy. Ran 9.70 @ 138mph with street tires and mufflers and you could drive it to the race track! http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/t...Toy/img003.jpg http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/img004-1.jpg |
Re: Dave's New COPO
Dave, I remember your 'lil white Chevy II and the PHR feature on it. Man......9.70's is scootin'! I was crazy about that car! In fact, it was for sale less than a year ago and I gave it some serious consideration! I owned one very similar that I'll tell 'ya about this weekend in Chicago.

Re: Dave's New COPO
It was a baddd little chevy two, I tried to buy it back this summer myself , he put it up for sale but decided to keep it a while longer.......I'll get it back someday!

Re: Dave's New COPO
Could that be a Hemi Dart racing the copo in one of them pic's ?? Looks like it has the cut out wheel wells. I'm not a dodge guy, but that was the first thing to come to mind when I seen it. Ant thoughts guys ?? That would be the same time frame wouldn't it ?? It would of been a heck of a race none the less. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

The name on the qtr panel that says Larocco is my buddys dad and uncles, they are cousins to the original owner of the copo.Mike Larocco had a 69 ZL1 pro stock camaro that he bought fron Sam Gellner in 1970.The camaro used to run at dargway42 and thompson raceway and was raced under the name L.S.D. for the last names of the guys that were partners on the ZL1.

I really love the car, owner stories, and photo history on your car! Such an amazing day two historical trip you have documented.
Did it ever come to a conclusion where the vintage drag photos are from? I'm kind of interested since it looks like my 67 gold L79 M21 4.56:1 Malibu might be sitting in the background shot of the photos in post 429020 on pg 17. The car was out of West Chevrolet in Mogadore, just outside Akron, and raced local dragways by Frances Ripley from Tallmadge and then Greg Phile from Ravenna. Can anyone pinpoint the dragway in those photos dated June of 72? |
Re: Dave's New COPO
Cool pics.. Ray.. Do you know where this car is today??

Re: Dave's New COPO
Rich, there is a funny story about that car my freinds dad and uncle bought the car from Sam Gellner in cleveland and Sam was the second owner of the car the orginal owner was a person that worked at the lordstown chevy plant and he sold the car to Sam soon after he bought it and then Sam sold it to the Laroccos and they continued to run p/s with the car.I talked to Dean Gellner abouth the car and he had heard that Reggie Jackson had the car at one time. The orginal color of the car was dark green with black guts, when I talked to my freinds dad about the car he talked about how they had acid dipped the car and lightened it up and when they traded the car to Arlen Vanke that is was pretty much was used up.Is this the car from the Barret -Jackson auction from a few years ago?

Re: Dave's New COPO
The ZL-1 in question could be #53 124379N634918. Sold new out of Lyle Chev in OH. Did have Reggie history. The COPO Connection had it listed as being white originally.
|
Re: Dave's New COPO
I just talked to my freind and he said that the car was white.my mistake is Lyle chev by Lordstown?

Re: Dave's New COPO
Lyle was in Cuyahoga Falls Oh.

Re: Dave's New COPO
I agree! If I had the money and dedication, I'd love to be running a real NHRA A/Stock or B/Stock car in competition. I love those classes wit the stock intakes and carbs, 9-inch slick rule and sub-10 second performances. Neat stuff!

Re: Dave's New COPO
Neat pictures Ray , would like to see more! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif
Here are some pics of parts off the COPO racer. It still had the original alternator on it , along with the upper and lower radiator hose's and bottom crank pulley. The upper hose only has an AU stamped into the hose and the lower on has a white stamped part number but is much bigger than the REPO's you get now. http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/t...ntheday078.jpg http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/t...ntheday083.jpg http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/t...ntheday085.jpg http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/t...ntheday076.jpg |
