Re: Roof Deuce Restoration
Sam, if you need a CAUTION Sticker for the car, let me know - there are a few NOS ones available!!
I think the valve covers could use on of the those low horse hp stickers and you will be all set. |
Re: Roof Deuce Restoration
No worries my friend, I snagged the rare over-sized "CAUTION" sticker. You just can't put a price on safety + it looks c https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif l. Thanks for the offer though. Schoneye, swap out those gold cad bolts from the upper a-arm bushings - I'm thinking they should be black oxide. That alt wire plug looks gray - I think it should be white. Looks like you got the dust flaps on the right side of the wheelhouses - I learned that one the hard way!
Love that Fathom Blue! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |

However, was there a difference from the small block alternator plugs in comparison to the big blocks??? Reason I bring this up is because mine has never been replaced on my 70 big block car and it is a grey ended plug just like what Ken has there... Door reassembly. Original paper vapor barrier goes back on. Note the skewed way they were glued on at the factory. Schonye recreated this special factory touch by lining up the holes in the paper with the original screw holes of the door panel.

Re: Roof Deuce Restoration
The original A arm bolts were very pitted. Where we send parts out to be phosphated, it's 65.00 for a bolt, or a bucket of bolts. We have a 69 camaro in here also, whose owner could care less if he has cad bolts or not. So we used his, waited until we had a half bucket of hardware, and changed out the bolts.
The alt plugin on the original harness, and both of my deuces are the same as pictured. |

Schoney, What coating or Paint are you using say on front sway bar and upper control arm cross shaft, versus the color or contrast on the steering center link, ect, etc.
Can you share this info or rather not ???? I really appreciate your detail and workmanship. Thanks, |

Re: Roof Deuce Restoration
We went out to dinner tonight with a couple of friends from the old gang that we hung out with back when the deuce was still tearing up the streets. We got to talking about the car and I mentioned that everyone calls it a "she" now and how in my mind it had always been a "he". Earl, and the friends we were with, said they had always thought of the car as a "he" also. I said that maybe Schonye had done a sex change operation on it during the restoration. Earl's comment, "Yeah, he probably left off a couple of nuts!" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif You can clean him up but you've got to be careful where you take him!!!

Re: Roof Deuce Restoration
Sorry Sammy. The fire chief lives there and it's grass fire season in IA. I think people had half of Scott co. on fire today by being stupid and burning leaves on a windy day.
Your tax dollars were well spent by fema today. Many of our deptments were able to get brush trucks for this kind of fire event through fema grants. Nobody lost a house today. Linda, I truly thought about the "she" when I wrote about the deuce. You called it, an it. An "it" would have no nuts. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif I've always used a female conotation with mine, so that's where the "she" came from. But mostly back in the day, we just said," The deuce". |
Re: Roof Deuce Restoration
Good one Earl https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif. I can already tell I like your sense of humor. For the record, I am headin' to Donahue next weekend and I will personally count all of the nuts to ensure none were castrated er https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif left off, I mean.
