Tom, I like the windshield washer monitor fiber optic setup. I just noticed it looking at the pictures. I have one on my car they are neat!!

There is a small indicator light that mounts under the dash...near the e/brake handle...this was part of the auxillary lighting package I beleive...cool little unit.

I saw one a couple of years ago at a dealership in Pa. How did that thing work? Did the light get brighter as the fluid went down?

Basically A styrofoam float followed the level of the windshield washer fluid.
A paddle having a green & red lens on top of it would shift in front of a dimly lit bulb.When the level was low the color red would illuminate.When it was full,the color green would illuminate back into the sight lens mounted under the dash,notifying the driver of this.All this via a fiber optic line.
This option actually had 3 different designs,all varied on what time period throughout 1970 you received it in.
You could order it seperately as RPO CD-2,or with the Auxillary Lighting group as ZJ-9.

Thanks for the info! I guess that wasn't too accurate on a bumpy road, but hey it was early technology. Cool. Just like the traction dispensing compound option that wasn't too popular on the Camaro's. I have only seen one of those units in a Camaro.

Jed, that windshield washer monitor light unit was a one year stint only for 1970. Chevy realized later that those things would freeze up in the winter time and the float assemblies would crack. I guess there were a lot of unhappy chevy owners who returned their cars to the dealerships after this happened for a warranty on the part so they scraped the idea for 1971..
