Re: Chicagoland Cruise Nights - LOMBARD

Rick,

Thank you for taking and posting those pictures https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif My wife said she was happy to be have been able to provide support for the spare tire https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Thanks also for pointing out that grain on the steering wheel rim; I honestly had no idea there were differences amongst the 'standard' steering wheels https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

I will try to take a good picture showing the spare wheel insert color and post it here. As Rick says, it is definitely not black, and I don't believe it has any metallic to it.

Thanks also to Dan for posting the picture of the car a couple pages back. I sure wish his camera batteries hadn't pooped out because there were so many other beautiful cars in attendance that night.

I took a few pics of my spare wheel. The dark grey paint does indeed have some fine metallic in it. It's not as noticeable since the paint does not have a high gloss finish, but it is there. These pics I am posting lost a lot of detail resizing them for posting, but I have higher resolution pics (~ 760kb each) that I could email to anyone who is interested.

Are you sure about the metallic actually being in it?
I see that as the silver undertone layer that was applied first, before the Dark Charcoal inserts were painted very lightly later.

that makes the most sense,
I have watched you guys discuss these wheels for awhile, and the three I had were the same, I looked them over and they had a very light metallic to them but the silver bleeding through makes the most sense!!! as it is the strangest looking color, now Rick needs to spray a old wheel and see if it bleeds through the same, good job Columbo!
