is that a fuel line bracket or is that the bracket that should mount to front carb stud to hold the PCV hose? [/ QUOTE ]Fuel line bracket. Supposedly the 69 Z's are to have one, but I never saw one on any original cars I have seen. The BB's had the bracket on the front stud to hold the PCV valve hose. |
Re: Unmolested LT1 Motor with 6000 Miles / CTB Cod
Jack Seymour reported..... "The guy works with my brother and he was telling him he was a original owner of a 70 Camaro. My brother told him I was really into them and said he was sure I would love to see the car. Weeks went by and I was pushing just to see it, I was trying to get my brother to dig for details on the car. But the guy didn't even really know what he had, told us it was a SS 350 with the LT1 motor, I said WHAT, asked if it had stripes and split bumpers he said ya, so I new it had to be a 70 Z28 so now I'm pushing hard to see it,he also said he may be intrested in selling it because he was tired of it taking up room in the garage. I finally saw the car I was a little disappointed when I first saw the car, it had about a inch of dust on it vinyl top and no RS (darn) The more I looked the more I liked, to make a long story short, I bought the car after a little dealing. Sense I've had it home it just seems to be a better find all the time. even though there are a few thing missing, including the TCS clip. I just couldn't pass it up knowing there just can't be to many original owner cars out there. Thanks to everyone for the support and maybe I'll have it ready for Carlisle next year. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4.../Interior1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...8/Seymour2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...WheelWell1.jpg |

As Sam said,in 1969 the BB Chevelles had that same small metal bracket to hold the PCV Rubber hose in place, but no Fuel line bkt.was used.
In 1970 that BB PCV metal bracket was not used, but the Fuel line bkt. was. Maybe this carried over into the LT-1 cars also? That looks real good Chuck S. I gotta admit, this car is winning me over too. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif As far as Jack mentioning it is missing a TCS clip, are we sure it even had one? Speaking for the 1970 Chevelles, the early cars got a COMPLETE rubber TCS hose line connecting it to the Vacuum advance,TCS solenoid & carb.No metal clip was used,as it would have pinched the rubber hosing down. But after a few months of production went by,beginning on January 13 1970,they redesigned that same rubber TCS hose to include metal lines in between those rubber beginings used on the complete TCS system from then on. Thus they added the metal clip in the center area of the top of the passenger valve cover to hold the now metal tubed Distributor vacuum advance TCS line down. Whats the build date of this Camaro? |

[/ QUOTE ] Rick, I assume you're referring to Holley carb equipped 375hp Chevelles, because my Qjet equipped 325 hp 69 Chevelle has no such bracket https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif Thanks to everyone involved in photographing and posting the pics of these low mileage motors https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif. I have had people questioning why the motor in my car looks so crappy (i.e., rusty and lack of paint) since the car has only 21K miles on it. These pics make it easy to see why. Everyone's memory wants to believe that the factory did show worthy paint jobs on these motors, but obviously that's not the case. |
Re: Unmolested LT1 Motor with 6000 Miles / CTB Cod
The Holley cars were the only ones. Sam

Can the experts chime in on their opinion of those carb studs ?

Re: Unmolested LT1 Motor with 6000 Miles / CTB Cod
The Deuces got the same super tall studs, not sure why they are so long, but....
I used to think that the LT1's for the Z28 and the Deuces were identical, but I'm learning that there were some differences. At first I thought the temp sending unit was the only diff, but now maybe the dist shield and the fuel line bracket too? I didn't even know the shield and bracket existed. |
Re: Unmolested LT1 Motor with 6000 Miles / CTB Cod
Can somebody find out IF there is a number stamped into that fuel line bracket,& IF there is,is it #3969809?

Re: Unmolested LT1 Motor with 6000 Miles / CTB Cod
The distributor shield should be in the Deuces since they used the same dist part #. How often do you see a LS6 dist with the shields? From what I hear, not often. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif
Could be that the shields weren't used all year, but I doubt that. Dist part # would have changed. |
